Friends, Romans, Countrymen! Lend me your ears! I bring tidings of great joy to all SH2 fans, for a new mod is coming! Not a new map pack, or new banners, but an overhaul mod, designed to take you back to the days of the Roman Empire!

Stronghold II: Imperium Condita

I am the creator of this new mod, and I would greatly appreciate the support and interest of the SH2 community. I have released some pictures onto Moddb.com, and am working towards the end goal of reviving this great game. In the wake of despair left by Stronghold 3, I believe now is the time to act. And so, I ask you to visit my mod on the sight, and if you are interested, start getting the word out to your friends. I hope you will all be pleased with my labor.

Your humble servant,

The Gatesman of Avenna

From this trailer - it looks really great! You really did a great job making those army models!

By the way, are we going to be able to have both games at once: Stronghold 2 and Stronghold 2 Imperium Condita, or we will not be able to play Stronghold 2 while we have Imperium Condita installed?

Both games will be playable. As I have the mod set up right now, you're basically installing a second version of the game, so they will be separate. Unless of course, you only want one.

I just took a look at your link... Those images look great! I especially like how you made the new textures for walls and towers, really a great job! Also those cliffs... It really looks amazing!

By the way, do maps made in Stronghold 2 (original) work in Imperium Condita too?

They will work, but they will not look quite right. Many of the textures are different, so for example, sand dunes are now heavy snow. But if you don't mind doing a but of re-touching, any map will be compatible.

Wow, adding snow is something I do like!
By the way, I don't want to sound like someone who only asks for something, but is there a tree type with change skins so it looks like there is snow on it?

If you mean something like Stronghold Legends, then unfortunately no. All I've got to work with is what is in Stronghold 2. But I am working around that. As of now, what I'm going with for winter landscapes, is pine trees, (because they retain color in the winter) empty bushes, and marsh trees. (because they look like leafless winter trees) However, I am still experimenting. So we shall see.

Perhaps it is something like Stronghold Legends what I meant, but I'm not sure if we meant the same. I only meant about a pine tree with some stone, and it would be placed by map maker. Still I do agree with you - pine trees are always green.

@EaglePrince: You can download a snow mod from StrongholdNation

This mod really does look outstanding. Being a massive fan of Rome myself, I find it particularly interesting. Are you planning on uploading it here or at StrongholdNation?

Let me know if there is anything I can do to support it

@EaglePrince

I see what you're saying now. Like I said, I'm still experimenting.

@Duke Chris

The ultimate plan is to upload the mod to gamefront, then make it accessible from it's home page on moddb. If you want to support the mod, create a profile on the site, (its free) and click the follow button. More followers means more views, and attention. Plus, you will be notified every time there is an update.

Thanks for the interest guys.

I did register there today. I can't find a follow button though. Nevertheless, I am sure that you will be notifying us here about your progress, and sharing the great news about the mod.

Regarding Chris's offer, I think it would be great if you posted the final version at Stronghold Nation, or something like that. Fans of Stronghold 2 would be able to download the mod more easily, as there are more fans of the game here and at Stronghold Heaven than there are at ModDB. I mean, it's the same reason why you keep us informed here at Stronghold Heaven I think.

In the information on the side of the mod page, there is an option to "track this mod"

As for where to download it, the main page will be moddb, but I'll look into uploading it here as well.

I track the mod. Perhaps putting this link into description could help visitors (with description that one needs to register in order to follow the mod), this link is pretty small there... Just an idea, I guessed it is the same link for each registered visitor.

That would be amazing, we'd be honoured to have such a good upload. I'd even feature it on the site's homepage to attract more attention to it

Even just the individual textures are amazingly detailed.

Great. I've followed the mod now.

*Exclusive content*

I'm only posting this picture here, because I know most of the more advanced mapmakers are on the forum, rather than moddb. Enjoy the eyecandy.

Did you get stairs to work in Stronghold 2?

You need to be able to edit the .g2 files to really finish the mod.

@grant1977

No the stairs don't actually act as stairs. They are just a building tool to make eye candy. But with them, you can make a lot of interesting buildings.

Also, to any moderators who see this, how can I change the name of this thread? I'd like to rename it Imperium Condita.
