Greetings gentle Lords.

I'm having trouble finding a solution for this problem. What do I need to script in order to have your troops (and lord if need be) start on neutral ground, then take an enemy castle by killing all of the enemy troops?

I understand the scripting as far as winning conditions, and taking an enemy castle. But every time I start the mission, I instantly lose, because my lord has no estate. Is it even possible to start without land? I know you can in the vanilla campaign.

Thanks

The only option is the use the campaign and the map unlocker then unlock the map and edit that instead.

Here is the map unlocker: http://www.strongholdnation.co.uk/downloads/file/8-sh2-map-unlocker/

Or ... you could use a single square and place a castle marker on it. That way, the estate would not be big enough for a keep for form but The Lord would exist and you would not die instantly.

If you have any other questions just let me know.

I will be sure to try both methods. Thank you Sir.

Here's another question. I've never seen real-time shadows in my game. The option for it is always grayed out in the start-up menu. I've been running ver 1.4.1 for a long time, and have never had any luck with it. Has anyone else ever had this problem?

I'm not sure why you can't check this checkbox, but you can definitely edit it in the file 'Stronghold2.GraphicsSettings.xml' in the My Documents/Stronghold 2 folder.

This is the line, my setting is set to true. I expect yours will probably be false:
<drawGroundShadows enabled="true"/>

It's very strange. Because, While I have always been able to use the ground shadows, the real-time shadows never appear. Even after I edited the graphics file. It's like it resets itself to false every time I start the game. I wonder if rts disabled in a patch or something like that. It just isn't working for me.

Edit: When I run the game with the file open, a message appears.

"The file you are editing has been changed on disk. Would you like to reload this file?"

I seem to be having a problem creating a warcustom. I made the map, and set Edwin in charge of a castle. The idea is you capture the fort, then later in the mission, Edwin comes to besiege it again. The problem is that every time the mission starts, Edwin begins building a new fort. Even though I've changed the estate to 'use buildings on map'. And even stranger is that after I capture the fort, it isn't Edwin's men who come to attack it. It's William. And because he is an ally in the mission, its not an attack, but reinforcements. Has anyone else ever had a problem like this? I know I've done everything right in terms of scripting.

A few points first:

- Have you disabled AI production?

- Double check all invasions

- Double check estate boundaries

- Double check which estates are villages

- Double check allies (this is overkill)

If problems are still happening feel free to send your map in an email to me at lordchris [at] strongholdnation [dot] co [dot] uk.

Ok, I'd like to apologise for how long this has taken to get anywhere.

I've been really busy with 52 Weeks of Stronghold. I'm looking into it today for you, I promise.
