Stronghold Heaven is collecting and hosting tutorials on SH3 mapping techniques, scripting, and map-editor general overviews. This is the first map editor Firefly has released that is stand alone. Feel free to leave a comment on this page and email me. All articles will be credited and appreciated by other members of the mapping community.

Stronghold Heaven's Stronghold 3 Downloads section is pending.

The map editor comes separate from the actual game? I can't seem to find it.

But I can't wait to experiment with it!

When you get the game you can go to installion folder or if its download from Steam then you go WinXP example:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\stronghold3\bin\win32_release
And there you find the exe file of map editor. Not like separated Program, standalone, DLC, etc. Just at some point it is.

To get to the editor in Steam you can also select Games, then click on ALL GAMES, then select Tools from the drop down menu. You will get a list, scroll down to Stronghold 3 Map Editor which should say Ready to Play, click on that the editor will start.

Not true, at least not yet. No doubt that that is where FF had hoped it would show up but as of release the only way to access the editor is by following the directory TwoDie posted.

There seems to be different versions floating around, the only people who seem able to access the editor via 'tools' are FF reps and this is causing confusion in forums.

I am new to the forum and enjoyed the downloaded maps from everyone on the SH2 map scenario site. I figured it was time for me to join the ranks in map design for SH3 and get feedback when I post them (good or bad). My lord knows there are so many of you out there that will undoubtedly chuckle at my inabilities, but so be it. I will learn from mistakes and your advice.

Here is my question, have I missed something? Can someone tell me how to populate wildlife in the SH3 map editor? I don't see how hunters can "hunt" without wildlife.

Hate to be a negative nancy, but I'm not touching SH3 until all these issues are fixed / they release the editor as standalone.

Welcome to the forums Basche, hope you stick around

To place Deer on the map, find in the editor menu: Editor Only Objects>Non-Player Buildings>Deer Generator. Also, there in an Animals section under the Units tab.

I believe that is reasonable, Captain Diablo. They rushed too much, and hopefully their patches will make up for it.

I was wondering if some people could make some "Freebuild" maps for SH3? There's only 2 maps available in the list. I'm not really interested in the Military or Economic campaigns, I just like freebuilding in games similar to SH3.
