Playing offline (stronghold crusader) with just two computers?

Hello all, I am new here, I'm silvo and I thank you in advance for your help, I would like to know if playing offline with just two computers, using a lan/ethernet cable to connect both computers, is possible? (offline) I just want to play with my friend against AI opponents and we live in the same house. We don't have internet apart from the data on our phones so we want to do offline. If so, which kind of cable is needed? (cat5/cat6, etc.?) thanks!

Sorry for not replying right away. I didn't notice your message here, although I was visiting this forum. Do you two have laptops maybe? If so, maybe you could do it by making a hotspot by one laptop, and to join that network with the other one. I'm not sure at all how this could work, if it is possible, but maybe it is because I know people can send files over WiFi from one device to another.
If you make it, then you should be able to play with your friend multiplayer games by Internet TCP/IP connection for direct play. Have a look at Multiplayer in the game menu, and you will find that option there.
But once again, I'm not sure if this thing with hotspot could bring the two of you into the same network, but I hope that it could. The thing is that, maybe, even if you create the hotspot with your smart phone, maybe you wouldn't spend data while playing a game with your friend because your PC's won't have to communicate with some server, but only to each other. And yet again, I'm not sure, don't take me on my word.
When it comes to cables, that is something I know nothing about. I know that it should be possible, but I have never learned how to do it, and since I got internet into my house I have stopped thinking about options like that.
