OK, I am going to try to stay calm and list a few game mechanic issues I am experiencing - some I have read posted by others, some not:

Rotating view. When I click the middle mouse button (the scroll wheel, in my case) and try to move left or right, there is a noticable game freeze for at least 3 seconds before the screen responds by rotation. When I click the middle button to stop rotating, there is a 3+ second freeze before normal mouse navigation returns. Anyone else getting this?

I have read others' comments about unit/building selection BUT OH MY GAWD! I want to play this game so much I would be willing to learn how to compensate my clicking/dragging - IF there was a pattern I could figure out on where to click so you select the area you are actually aiming for. (I haven't been able to identify such a pattern yet. I suspect it may be changing based on the rotational view) Also, the change in cursor type when you are hovering over an item (once you figure it out where that is) seems to be very delayed - or doesn't trigger at all. This issue in itself pretty much makes the game unplayable for me.

Why slow the game pace down so much as far as peasant growth, industry production, etc - and THEN add catastrophic events at a lightning pace? I experienced a wheat blight, a rat infestation and a peasant revolt in the amount of time it took my wood cutters to bring in enough wood for a hovel.

I am sorry to say the stair and ladder climbing wolves have driven me to despair. I not only cannot complete the 2nd Economic scenario - I don't even WANT to try anymore. I just watched wolves leap up drag down a millboy that was at the top of the ladder at the mill. Again. I mean - wild wolves navigating military buildings to kill archers, maybe I could stomach. But these ladders are a straight 90 degree pitch. Really??? Screw recruiting archers, or spearmen - give me a squad of wolves and I will RULE this game! The game hints suggest that you use armed peasants for clearing out wolves - but I am losing those at least 1 (or more) per wolf when they encounter WITH cover fire from archers supporting. Speaking of which - one wolf can take 4,5 or more arrow hits and keep coming? Really?

The game credits have two "Firefly Lead Testers" and three "Firefly Testers" listed. What the heck did they do? Did they really play this game and say, "Yep! It's good to go - ship it!" Did any of them have experience playing SH1 or SH2 or Crusader so they had some frame of reference what expectations/desires the community may want? Are they still employed? I mean, if these guys are testing another game now for some other upcoming release - I would like to know which one.

I was so so so excited about this game, and I have not experienced this level of disappointment for a sequel since the movie "Highlander 2" was released. If it wasn't for my love of the previous SH games (I actually LIKED SH2) I would have written this off as a life lesson already.

As it is - I WANT to believe this game can be fixed to be playable.

Stupid wolves...

Hello, Dallyngrigge. I understand your frustration. I recommend you take a break and return to the game after FireFly Studios releases more patches for it. As Firefly Studios has posted on their website, they are working on game patches to correct bugs, glitches, and make the gameplay more balanced.

Wait a little bit, maybe until Christmas. Play the game with new patches, the way it was intended to be.

Hey, guys . . .

I really think FF has further compromised their reputation by releasing SH3 far too early. As it is, if the game isn't truly patched up until Christmas, they are going to miss out on tons of revenue. Their rush to release an incomplete, flawed product has only served to sour many people's opinions of it . . . and possibly inhibit future sales.

And I was really looking forward to this game . . .

Later . . .

By "their rush" I hope you do not mean Firefly. Publishers decide when to release a game, not the development studio.

As one of those named testers (who incidentally DOES still have a job) let me give you a hint on that mission: The very first things to be placed after your stockpile, granary, and woodcutters should be a barracks and as much wooden wall as possible. One whole side can be filled with the barracks and a little bit of wall first, place the archers on the barracks and use the rest of your wood wisely! Even if you cannot manage to fully enclose the settlement at first, you can at least make it so the wolves have a very small opening they have to squeeze through in order to get at your delicious peasants. If you have some archers for backup, your lord should be able to keep the wolves at bay long enough in this little passage for you to get enough wood to complete the fence.

I was frustrated by this level the first few times I played it too!

Thanks for visiting, Lord Alacrity! I don't recall seeing you...in a long time. Yes, with much of the discussion I have seen, the publisher pushed and caused the rush more than FireFly did. I'm sure there is an art to balancing the release and satisfying everyone. It just needs some aggressive work.

Nevertheless, I am glad that Firefly is ironing out the bugs in the new game.

Sorry, I have no knowledge of how games get to market. Still, the one who will be blamed is FF.
