Many of you will be happy to hear that the Stronghold 2 v1.4.1 is now available to download through the in game auto patching system. The patch will work with all languages (EN-US, EN-UK, IT, ES, FR)

To install this patch you first need to install version 1.4. Any versions of the game prior to 1.4 using the auto-patching service will update the game to version 1.4 and will then need to update again to version 1.4.1. Alternatively, you can download the 1.4 patch here:

I will also update this post with alternative links to download the patch if and when they become available.

1.4.1 Features
Bug Fixes

•Blank games and duplicate games no longer appear in the multiplayer lobby.
•Disbanded troops now appear from the player’s hovels. If no hovels are placed peasants will appear outside the keep.
•Troops placed in stockpiles can now be targeted by enemy players.
•Stone quarries can now be placed on both Island Hopping and Rocky Island free build maps.
•A player can no longer open and close their gatehouse once it has been captured by the enemy.
•Sally ports now appear hidden to enemy players.
•Fixed issue when dismounting units so that the animation only plays once, preventing them from crossing inaccessible terrain.
•Fixed issue so that the Lord can no longer attack buildings from a distance using the “Return to Civic Duties” button in the keep interface panel.
•Archers can no longer use braziers when standing on level ground next to a wall with a brazier.
•Fixed issue with knights being unable to mount horse if they moved while the horse was en route.
•Fixed issue in which wrong weapons were selected when going to the weapons panel in the market by clicking on the Armoury interface panel.
•Fixed issue in which monks would not go to the monastery when it was placed in certain rotations.
•Fixed a multiplayer issue in which turning off food consumption would cause the game to go out-of-sync.
•Fixed a multiplayer issue in which Herons could cause an out of sync.
•Great Britain map has been re-balanced.

Excellent work! I didn't think we should lose hope in more fixes at all. I'm happy that Firefly is still bringing Stronghold 2 up to the ramparts (so to speak).

I don't see a fix for the no-tint-in-water bug, but the other repairs are important, especially for our multiplayer-players.

Let me be the first to post a hearty:

(I'm still hoping for that next Legends patch by the way!)

EDIT: Hahaha! On the contrary! Tints in water now appear correctly in maps and in the editor.

Sounds good, but the important part is what it does with the Map Editor. If it's still screwed up like in the original 1.4... But I'll give it a try.

Hey Capt, just played a game online, 15 or 20 mins after I got in my screen went blank and my computer froze (I had to restart). With this new patch I have been freezing even more than with 1.4 and 1.3.1. What's going on?

Now these are the kind of bug fixes I like. They solve some potentially embarrassing and generally much clamoured problems. Truly a patch for the players.

Nice one.

I've been having problems with this new patch. v1.4 worked like a charm for me but I'm having severe lag experiences on two different computers with the v1.4.1 patch. Not just normal lag, but more like a metronome lag, where the game just drops to about 2 fps and stays there, no matter what the graphics setting is or what's happening. Again, TWO different computers experiencing the same thing, and my computer is capable of running SH2 maxed out, only lagging during intense battle scenes, (at least it could with the 1.4 patch) so I'm pretty sure it isn't just normal system lag. Has anyone else had this happen?

I have yet yo be able to download the 1.4.1 patch via the in-game update system... It downloads 100%, but when running the update, my system hangs. It looks like it promps to start the Just in Time Debugger, but I cannt get past the graphic screen to either start it or not. In fact, my only resource is to completely reset my system completely. I tried like 4 times yesterday, all to no avail.

I guess I can download the patch manually and install, but am I basically screwing myself if I do? Will the update, which doesn't want to install and run via the in-game method, be miracualously better if called manually instead of automatically? I can't really believe that...

Actually, it looks like the 1.4 is downloadable and manually installable, but not 1.4.1. SO I guess I'll never be able to get it...

Its nice to see Firefly still supporting the fans. While that Patch isnt a Biggy for me as 1.31 works fine for me with no CTD issues, it should help alot.

I know you read replies AND I would like to ask you to take a couple notes for the FF team for Stronghold 3.

I have been asking for this since the first Stronghold Game and I WOULD love to see it finally added in SH3.

1. Could your Team put Some sort of Door system on Castle Towers and the Keep that have to be hacked away like in Lord of the Realm 2? This would allow me to have some time from the swarms the play ring around the walls which is unrealistic.

2. Could you add more Castle Wall buildings? True gatehouses etc that can have the Gates Rammed.

3. Can you add more editor features like Having units retreat BACK to other Walls? Right now all I can do is retreat on Land, it would be nice to have Fall back to Inner Walls when outer walls Breached.

4. And last Different wall Heights so we can design more realistic castles. And Moats that can be waded through but still can be filled in.

Thanks again for a great Game, I hope 3rd time is the Charm for my suggestions and that they are not unreasonable
I have always supported your products.

I gotta download it, but one thing they should fix is letting your troops mount the siege towers. Also when you create a map for custom War how do you make an invasion? It never works for me. Its way easier in Stronghold Crusader than on SH2.

Hi CaptSkubba!

I have some suggestions:

-the unit speeds should be altered. Siege machinery should be a bit slower/faster. For example, catapults are almost as fast as calvary and doesn't make sense. And calvary should be faster

-the stockpile? I don't understand why they would have to be adjacent and a max of 3...4 maybe?

-Maybe a battering ram should break just the gate (it can't close or open and the door's completely gone) instead of busting the whold stone structure. Then engineers can "repair" the door after the enemy is gone.

-the siege tower issue once again...I think its so cool to have archers on a moving tower with melee hiding in so i beg the firefly crew to change it :P

-moats should look more like a pool of water than some greyish sand-like ground, similar to running water and rivers in the terrain, except less movement in the water.

-this may be hard to do, Or some fog in the swampy areas? It will look awesome like that.

Thanks CaptainSkubba

the only thing id wish they fixed is all the troops overlapping so it would be a more army vs army thing(like medeival 2 total war where the armies charge and are spread out) and less of a the entire group attacks one soldier at a time
