Stronghold Fantasy Competition: Dougleass, 'Ghost'

Judge’s comments: With the judging and scoring extremely close across the three entries to the Stronghold category, Ghost offered something just a little different. The fantasy/ficticious element that prevails here seemed to embrace what we were looking for just that bit more. The relative simplicity of the scenario was never to be a negative in our books and the puzzle style of the map offered a fresh challenge. It was, in simple terms, an absolute gem of a map from start to finish. Ghost was, in many ways, an unnerving experience to play because there seemed to be an overriding element that anything could happen throughout the scenario! With a wonderful landscape and a visually stunning castle structure, Ghost is an incredibly well thought out and carefully modelled map. The supporting information was of a very high standard and quality. The map of the castle found in the zip file, plus the logo, added to an extremely well put together package, something that the judges were particularly looking for.

To play, Ghost is extremely difficult to crack and even harder to master. This scenario took many, many attempts to beat and many more attempts to ensure that there were no flaws in the design or gameplay that could detract from the score. It didn’t disappoint. There are flashes of genius evident in the creation of this map, such as an enemy that you can’t see, which pleased the judges immensely. This scenario deserved to win the Stronghold category and only just held off from the equally impressive competitors. Ghost can, however, be summed up in one word: incredible.
