Shocked to learn that he himself has been supplying the weapons King Aldwich used to defeat his allies, Sir William resolves to confront the monarch on the field of battle. The siege of Riverlake -- and Sir William's brilliant plan for taking this mighty citadel -- will long be remembered in song and legend.
This is the final chapter of a ten mission campaign.
But it will be followed by an epilogue to wrap up the plot -- and reveal the final developments in the lives of the characters.
\"Save the best for last.\" Gordon definitely took that axiom to heart in Usurper. This is easily the best Invasion Map I have played so far!
PLAYABILITY: You bascially get 2 scenarios in one. First you storm the Castle a la Siege Maps, then you re-build and defend it. Throw in the puzzle element during the your siege and you end up with gameplay that should strongly appeal to all Stronghold fans at one point or another.
BALANCE: At one point, my defense came down to a solo swordsman (the rest of the Royal Guard had been killed) defending the King while I rushed everyone else I could find towards him. The swordsman was in the red when he cleared the roof. About as close to perfect as balance can get!
CREATIVITY: The dual nature of the scenario was great. The Castle itself was quite imaginative in design, as well.
MAP DESIGN: The Castle is the prominent feature on the map and is presented extremely well. Study it's layout well - you will find some clues to the best attack route if you do.
STORY/INSTRUCTIONS: Well written, with a good plot right up to the end!
