Once upon a day Black cliffs was an island. Now land gain over sea and black cliff island could be reach when sea is low. You just inherit this small isolated fief. Your father tyrannically ruled this land and was as cruel than poor manager . I finally died in a Jacquerie (peasant revolt). Responsible for this revolt fleed and are said to become brigands. Your remaining people hope you will be a better lord than your father. However your greedy neighbours see you as an easy prey, since your land as been weakened both by your father poor management than the recent revolt. First of them is your cousin, Lord Scupulanis who seek to inherit this land after your death. In order to protect your land you decide to travel to the nearest town to hire Danish mercenary swordmen. Las when you came back you found your land devastated by a raid. Goal of this raid was probably you rather than your land. Your enemy let here a group of soldiers probably to kill you when you will come back. But probably didn’t they heard about your Danish.
You’ve a life to rebuild your land, both castle, town, economy and preserve it from your neighbours’s greed.
It was the first map I made for stronghold, about one year ago. I designed it as a training map, so about every kind of events could occurs, especially calamity (but not too numerous and evil). It far to be a master piece. It could be play at any setting, even I feel at very hard invasions don’t work as well as in other setting.
This map could have some interest for people which look for a long play on large map, to build fair number of rooms, and win without think too much and develop complicated strategy. Event offer sometime little challenge, just choose the difficulty setting to ajust the challenge. Anyway even at very hard experienced player would not have great difficulty to beat it, and could yawn on long peace time.
Economic’s abuse are prevented by the keep/stockpile location which isn’t optimal.
Military abuse is limited by your inability to hire heavy troops. Pitch could be collected but not in great number.
Important notes : at start the castle is mostly ruined. Cliffs are assumed to be weak, don’t build just in border of it.
Really the castle is enough defendable by itself. Ennemies cant turn around it by a side which is blocked by a water fall. Try to not block the way in the other side by build walls on the extremes borders of the cliffs.
For very beginners at stronghold, don’t be ashame to play it at easy. I’m anyway now not sure of how difficult could be my maps, even those I feel to be easy.
Be indulgent, it's my "youth creation".
To resume a classical invasion, map large, long to play. Just choose carefully the difficulty setting.
It could have an interrest as training map especially if played at easy or normal. |

I overall liked this map and would suggest others to download and play this map, as the author said its a large map and takes a long time to play and beat.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Playability: 4
I rated it 4 because it is almost impossible on very hard with all the wolf attacks to get any wood or stone and without that you cannot make any troops to fight with. So it was a little bit unplayable.
Balance: 4
There were a few things to balace out a bit, like the ford being so huge. Which is not only annoying but it does not help you in the long run. Also the land area behind your castle is not near large enough. The Signposts are so spread out you can get attacked from anywhere you put your woodposts, or stone quarry's BAD THING.
Creativity: 4
Was not great creativity but did not deserve a 3, it had to take some thought and imagination, I liked it!
Map Design: 3
This is my main factor in determining the overall outcome of the map for my reviews. If I dont like the map then the whole scenario get's a worsened review. First off it was jam packed with stuff in 1 area and bland as bland gets in others. You need to spread stuff out and make the castle area ALOT LESS CROWDED, I hate croweded things at the start of a map. The ford like I said before was way to big, and their was no wood near your castle to chop without worry of attack from wolves, bears, or enemy troops.
Story/Instructions: 4
I gave the story a 1.5 because it was not great but wasent bad, the Instructions a 2.5 because they were easy to understand and were self explanitory as I like also.

Thanks for the map overall great map, good job and keep making those maps!
