After misreading the map describing where to place a new settlement, your predecessor has been relieved of his duties -and his head. It seems the settlement is quite far from land suitable for agricultural development, and near paths frequented by outlaws. Because the King has already invested resources into the settlement, He does not want it abandoned. Your assessment of the site proposes to take advanage of the estuary and produce pitch. The King agrees but will not wait forever.

A good effort, but way too easy.

Bandit raids are so small and sparse that they're hardly worth the minor annoyance. Once the wolves are cleared out (a trivial task), there's plenty of easy farmland and hunting available, enough to go double rations for 100 people. With that much gold flowing in, and with pitch available at market, the economic goals become trivial. I finished my first win on this map at normal difficulty 183 months early, and I wasn't trying that hard.

Some fires and plague could make this more interesting; both wells and apothecaries are available, but I never encountered a need for them. Maybe I just won before they kicked in.

I would suggest a shorter time till defeat, no pitch at market, and some occasional pestilence events to shake things up a bit.

That said, I did have fun with this map. It may take a while to figure out the path to success, but getting there is half the fun.

The story for this mission really got me into it! I found it a challenge and I had to restart the mission several times. The map design made it a challenge to get supplies to the castle and produce food. I think that it could have been more difficult by having more bandit attacks and possibly adding some more negative events. Overall, I enjoyed the challenge and loved the map. - Dianna

Enjoyable, but loooong.
Playability - Overall, I had fun, but for this scenario was one of those where it's quite challenging to start with, but once you've got things set up, the last half is a long wait (with minute adjustments) for the targets to be met.
Balance - I agree with the reviewer who said the bandits were far too small a problem. On the other hand, I only just managed to get everything in time, and had a constant fight for food, mainly due to bad planning. Bandits and plague/fires would be too much for me, but perhaps more of one or the other could be added?
Creativity - Good. I particularly liked the fact I couldn't move the stockpile!
Map design - Excellent. Nicely thought out, so you have to manipulate it as much as you can to speed people up. Love the rocky bits where the signs are.
Story - The story was intriguing and well written, and I found myself marvelling at the stupidity of my predecessor.

Good job overall.
The map is great. You have to look at it for a minute to figure out how you are going to set up your castle, food, and supplies. Closer as the crow flies, is not necessarily closer. Creativity and map design points there. Your story goes along well with the map too (who would PLAN to build there...silly peoples), so nice on that point too.
You mainly lose points on balance and playability. The mission was fun, but unfortunately, far too easy. I beat it on "Normal" my first try with nearly 1/4 of the time to spare and speed most the game at 90. I'd suggest worse bandit attacks, maybe one signpost to attack from the West? Use of other problems -- plague, tree fungus...apple blight would be a good one since the map lends itself to orchards -- would also help.
Thank you.
peter2008 Great and fun idea by Benthos again.
Due to the limited stockpile, the map can be played only up to the hard level. 300+ jars of pitch will fit there.
