I made this map in my spare time, and its actually surprisingly good for a tiny map.
The map is a Siege map, with no storyline intended whatsoever, except the blurb on the fact its supposed to be an archers' tower previously. The 'tower' is the keep.
The map is best played on Very Hard, because the enemy get to the keep and can win (not a chance :D).
Enjoy.
Feel free to use this map as a 'component' to another map.
Just notify me.
The Tower is another one of these small map ballistic affairs that one encounters often at SH. That said The Tower is actually quite well done. There are a few design errors that detract from a very good effort at creating a siege map.
Playability 3/5 this is a hard little nut of a castle and the AI defends it very well. While general game play is smooth, you cannot achieve victory and the game will not end. Unfortunate as the siege offered is somewhat of a challenge. The author can easily update the map to correct this.
Balance 3/5 A few issues here. As stated above The Tower is almost completely reliant on ballistics and it would have been far more entertaining if the defending forces had been of a better balance. Kill pits are used a little too much and pitch is also a bit excessive. These factors in themselves would not have been too bad if it were not for the fact that The Tower is one of those maps where you come under heavy fire immediately upon starting the game. The attacking troops are well balanced and the author has provided the attacker with enough if not a little too much in the war chest. I must note that the blatant overuse of engineers with oil is a bit silly. The Towers war dogs are placed way too close to the defending troops and therefore can be tricked into going off and attacking the defenders. Wolves can climb walls and towers and in the end can contribute some serious damage.
Creativity 3/5 Well this author certainly likes fire. The author has figured out some good ways to keep the entrances filled with flames. However pitch, oil, and burning passageways combined and it is just a little overkill. Although there is no eye candy, I just don’t think there would have been room for it had the author wanted to make some.
Map Design 4/5 the terrain is nicely modeled and shows that a good amount of effort went into it. The map has a worked over appearance that I found appealing. IMO it would have been better if the author had chosen a larger map size for this fortress. The castle itself is surprisingly well designed. Sturdy and compact, a lot of attention has been given to entrances and access points to the tops of walls. A step above what one usually sees with this kind of siege map. The author has done good work in this department.
Story/Instructions 3/5 a single short paragraph that is a little hard to follow. Some effort has been applied but I am giving this a generous 3.
In Short - This is a decent first attempt. Keep at it Lord Hexagh with a little more practice you will be capable of turning out some quality work.

I liked the design of the castle. I couldnt beat it so easy. I only play on attacking. There are just too much of your soldiers for attacking and you have much gold to build catapults. Map design was good, but could be better as for the nature (just a lil bit).
