Escape from the Crusades

Map Size: 300x300 (Medium)
Difficulty: Normal
This is my latest seige map, featuring some unique map design and a new aspect of battle tactics.

In the closing days of the crusades, a defeated Christian army awaits transport back to Europe. They have built a small castle out of the resources available, but the Muslim Zealots will soon be upon them. Meanwhile, the Turks and Saracens continue to rid their land of the unwanted invaders.

Play as either the Christians or the Muslims in this map. It was made mainly for attacking, so you may want to turn the difficulty level up when defending.

Hint-The pyramids serve more than aesthetic purposes...

PS. Special thanks to Zvika Neuman (not sure if I spelled that right) and thurdl01 for playtesting, and Bartman for offering to playtest. And IrishStag, who showed me how to post pictures on the download screen.

A somewhat deceptive map. I thought I was kicking butt and headed for an easy victory, but when the smoke had cleared, the toppling of the King had cost me 82% of my troops. At the same time, the outcome was never in doubt.

The storyline and map were each well created and the play itself required a carefully planned, methodical attack.

This was a very enjoyable map. I did take up the authors suggestion and played as both defender and then as attacker. I was very pleased at the results and really found this to be a fairly balanced map from either angle. Defence was a little easier but certainly not a simple task.

The playability scored a bonus point for this as did the over all balance of the map. As a regular player I think most people who take on this map will find it a pleasure.

The creativity scored high from me due to it being something new for me. I am sure there may be other dessert style maps out there, but I really liked the way the author put together the pyramids as well as the complete story to fit the map. Nicely done.

Now I did give high marks for the creativity of the map and the concept. Unfortunately I found the over all apeal of the map to only be average. This is not a bad thing, and I think limits in the editor contribute to this. If it were possible to somehow create sand dunes, to go along with the terrain, the map would have scored higher.

Very nice story to go along with a good effort in siege design. I think anyone who decides to download this map will find some enjoyment in its play.
