This is a large invasion map using many tricks that have recently come to light in SH map design, including bridges, aquaducts (I've expanded on this one) and walkable wooden walls. It is labeled as Normal difficulty, although in my own view it is verging on hard, due to the large numbers of enemies.
I must say, first and foremost, that this map drove me absolutely CRAZY! ARGH! MECHSTRA YOU RAZZIN' FRAZZIN'!!
Ahh, that felt good. This is the kind of map that'll just make you want to pound sand in frustration at some points, but it makes the victory that much sweeter. The entire game I was basically attacked on two fronts, on one side from red troops pouring over the bridge, and on the other from those damnable yellow hunters that kept stalking into my city at much tighter intervals. It got to the point that, during my final offensive push against the yellow city, I made the unnecessary detour to tear the hunting posts to the ground (they're a bit hidden, I only found them by accident, and they didn't show up on the minimap).
Map design has an issue, and it's an issue that I'd rather communicate via e-mail, since it can be a MAJOR game play problem (thus it's a bit of a double hit on my scoring, unfortunately). However, the use of the crumbling aquaduct and bridge (hmm, where'd those ideas come from...*wink*), and the gentle rolling country side helped make up for the issue (which otherwise might have garnered a 3 for Map Design).
Balance took a hit because it was a little too easy to just prance into the yellow town and pick off the Lord. There were those archers posted on the makeshift wooden tower, but they registered as little more than nits when I rushed the little Saxon Hall the Lord was cowering in.
All in all, a wonderfully hair-pulling map. Be warned, you will be taking Mechstra's name in vane as you play this, but I felt it made storming the yellow city all that more enjoyable at the end. Mechstra: I'll e-mail you a few more comments that would proove too much spoiler for the game if made public.
