Caer Dalan - Clans of the Green
\"Clans of the Green\" is the first chapter of a 5-mission campaign telling the story of Caer Dalan, a land of lakes and rivers, at the border of the Kingdom of Westerland.
Westerland, 940 AD. Reign of the King Emerald I.
The pilgrimage increased greatly at the end of the Great Disease, due to the fear of divine punishment and the coming Judgment Day, preached by the travelling priests.
The long years of caresty reduced drastically the population and weakened the Great Houses, unable to collect heavy taxes anymore. Awaiting better times, the Nobles of the Kingdom stood still inside their strongholds of stone and wood and looked for new ways of collecting money.
In the meanwhile the pilgrims travelled to the Holy Land, bringing new tales from those far places. Vast forests cover the eastern territory that lies between the Holy Land and Westerland, forests that are home to the Clans of the Green; outlaws and barbarians who occasionally attacked the christian carovans. Yet, the pilgrims have never stopped in front of the danger, still venturing deep inside the virgin territory.
The natural border between Westerland and the Eastern Territories is a passage, a thin arm of terrain in the middle of great lakes and waterfalls, deep inside the ancient region of Caer Dalan. The pilgrims have often stopped there to drink from the pure waters that flow within the dark rocks, touched by the Lord himself at the beginning of days.
After decades a village was born, where the pilgrims could stop for the night, far from the darkness of the sinister forests. Month by month, the village grew, inhabited mainly by poor, devoted population of fishers and hunters. The life went on peacefully and the danger remained deep inside the forests.
But one day everything changed.
Groups of savage outlaws emerged from the forrests, attacking the pilgrims and the pacific inhabitants of the village. By burning the houses, raping the women, and slaughtering the men, the outlaws imposed their dominion on those lands and nothing was as it was before. Two years have passed since the Caer Dalan Village had been founded and in those two years the bandits assaults have increased in number. In the last months they reached even the deeper territories of Westerland, threatning the local population. Today, with such a great number of savage attackers, it is imperative to stop them at the very gates of the Kingdom.
By the order of the King, the Lord Robert, of the House Kallahan, has arrived to Caer Dalan, along with his two sons, Edward and Gregor, to stop the bandits and protect the villagers. Sending a military expedition into the forests could prove difficult and useless on the long run, so another solution has been chosen.
The King wants a wall. A wall of stone that will seal Caer Dalan from the wild territories, providing protection to the population of the Village and also the entire nation in the years yet to come.

- The map is 400x400, the territory is covered by forests and rivers. \"To much unused space\", you would say, but I chose such a big map because it will be the theater of next chapters, telling the story of Caer Dalan.
- Plan your moves well. In the first minutes of the game don't stay still for to much time, or you'll be sorry.

Very entertaining map. The challenge I found here was getting started, but once my defenses were in place the road to victory was easily traveled. I had to attempt the scenario a few times, primarily due to placing my defenses incorrectly.
Random events exist to keep you on your toes and the invasions are timed well, though perhaps somewhat weak in the later stages of the game. It is a pretty and well-made map with plenty of wildlife. Resources are sufficiently distant and building space is not overly available.
