\"Time of Peril\" is the second chapter of a 5-mission campaign telling the story of Caer Dalan, a land of lakes and rivers, at the border of the Kingdom of Westerland.
BACKGROUND
------------
Westerland, 1066 AD.
A century has passed since the Kallahans first came to Caer Dalan and defeated the deadly Clans of the Green, assuring protection to local populations and pilgrims.
In the place of the wooden barriers that in the past had stopped the furious assaults of the outlaws, now stands the Wall of stone and iron, guarded by the Lords of the House Kallahan, the Guardians of the Border.
The last decades of the 10th century were peaceful ones and the long years of the Great Disease seemed to be just a nightmare that has passed and would never come back. Westerland was slowly returning to its former glory; more pilgrims travelled to the Holy Land; cities and villages have began to prosper and new trade routes have been established.
In 1063 the King Edward II died and left no one to succeed to him. The empty throne caused open rivalities between the Great Lords and soon many of them took the arms against each other. What followed was a long civil war, called the \"Game of Houses\".
The war involved the entire kingdom and caused a new fall of economy. The starving population rebelled against the Lords and their futile war, while the Great Houses fought each other, leaving a path of ruins and devastation.
Today, after three years of battles, the war continues and the adversaries become weaker and weaker. And while the armies of Westerland struggle for supremacy, a new, deadly threat is looming on the horizon.
The Anghars, a violent nomad people, are moving towards the eastern borders of the Kingdom, coming from the deep of the Far East. A massive army of thousands warriors in continuous movement thats seeks for new fertile territories and populated lands to raze.
Among the Great Houses nobody cared about the imminent danger, confident that the Wall would stop anything, and only few brave knights answered to the call of the House Kallahan, left alone at the eastern border with a small garrison, and came to Caer Dalan to help the Lords of the Border in the hour of peril.
NOTES
------
- The Anghars are violent warriors whose strength lies in number, but they learn fast. Expect to face sieges each time more efficient and planned better.
- Plan carefully your economy, since you will need resources to equip your Wall with enough defenders and any stupid mistake will cost you.
- Defend the Wall \"with teeth\" if necessary. The Anghars will try to take at all costs, since it is matter of their survival. So it's yours. The Wall is being considered impregnable, but it is up to you to prove it.
