The Egyptian Stronghold by k_c!!
This is my second addition to our downloads.In my map,players must defend a very important castle and prepare for an ultimate attack that will take a long time(about ten minutes),and if you choose to attack my castle,you'll have to plan for a very great strategy.So have fun!!
HAVE AT THEE YOUNG RUFFIAN! You sir are in bad form! You have placed a stain upon a tapestry that is not thine own. I strongly urge thee to reconsider this piffle. Please resort to thy training (read the Stronghold Review Guide.)

How can a map be difficult, impossible and alright (sic) at the same time?

I know this map is going to be reviewed by one of the staff at the site but I thought it looked interesting to review. I am reviewing this map from the defensive point of you. There is nothing clinically wrong with this map but there is room for improvement. The castle is called the The Egyptian Stronghold but there is no way of telling this looking at the map. The castle is relatively concentric with two rings of thick walls. There is a lot of pitch around that makes defence a lot easier. However the boiling oil carried by the engineers on the outer wall does not work. This is a bug I have never come across and should be sorted out to make the map better. Overall the map is simply too easy in defence, hence the 2. This is mainly due to the pitch, thick walls and lots of knights, sworsdmen and pikemen.The map is quite creative, a concentric simple castle. The map design around the castle is quite ordinary therefore a 3 is rewarded. This is the same for Story/Instructions - relatively ordinary. Overall a relatively entertaining siege, by no means boring but there is room for improvement. Keep making maps - you will improve - Good Stuff.

A good map. There are some other things that bothered me, namely bad pitch distribution. I would have liked to see more squares go up in single vollies.
I would also suggest a bit more focus on balance. Given, it was fun, however the enemy had no chance to enter the keep. I'd suggest less knights (if any) and replace some swordsmen with perhaps some macemen or spearmen.
Else it was a great map, I had alot of fun playing it but really does need some attention in regards to balance.
I will be changing my score upon the submission of a more balanced map
