This is a siege map of Caephilly Castle, one of the greatest works of water defence with Leeds, Kenilworth and Bodiam. I have tried to make this as close to accual diagrams as possible, however a lack of geographical information forced me to be a bit 'creative'. I highly recommed that one plays this as an attacker, I myself can just get to the keep before my last troops are cut down. I do admit I'm not as good at sieging, so lets see how well people do! Hope you all like it, and a comment or two sure wouldn't hurt. ;)
The author went for a historic castle map - this can be an advantage but in most cases can hinder you. For example your Caerphilly castle does not really look like the real thing. If there was no moat I would not be able to recognise the castle at all. My advice is to take a look at the two other versions of Caerphily that I know of. One made by unikUnok and the other named Gilbert the red Earl by Jack of all Trades. Take a look at them for improving your interpretation. This is the reason why you may have been slightly marked down. The castle is fine for playability. I attacked the castle fine enough using a comnination of siege weapons. I dug the moat and then filed all my men onto the wall with siege towers. I could then go on under much less fire to the keep destroying the gatehouses with battering ram. This was on normal -
I lost 47% of my men. Quite well balnced - I was tempted by a four but not really worth it as to balance an attacking siege is quite easy. They should have more men in defence. My route was very direct to the keep - I think it is more fun when you have to trail through the entire castle killing all their men before the lord. For creativit and map design you slighlty lost marks for generally quite a poor interpretaion of Caerphilly castle - Sorry about that. You can be more creative with un-historic maps as they are often more interesting. For story/instructions there was a bit to offer and a 3 is awarded. So overall more work must be done espcailly to make the map harder and more intersting to play although I had a good sense of accomplishment when I had beaten the castle as I seemed to have very few men against a large castle. Defiantly not a bad effort. Give it another go - you will only improve with practice!
