NOTE : DON'T play on very hard, as it leads to Sprite overload and erratic AI behaviour.
This is my second Helm's Deep map. My first one was made while I was but a noob in the design community and wanted to play a good Helm's Deep map based on the movie, since I could'nt find any, I just made one myself. It made me learn a lot about the Stronghold editor and since then I have learned a lot more, and set out to make a more accurate representation of the Helms Deep map.
This map took a long time to make, primarily since I wanted to recreate the feel of the movie as accurately as humanly possible. Amongst the variety of Helm's Deep maps availble, very few can do that. When the AI finally worked one day, I almost cried with happiness! It attacks the wall in a surprisingily Orc-like way and is a very fun battle through and through.
To make the AI work, I had to pre-place certain enemy forces on the map, and they blend very well with the AI army. I also had to do quite a bit of scripting to achieve the feel of the siege of Helm's Deep.
As a result of all that work, Crossbowmen flank the archers on your walls from nearby cliffs, and macemen hide behind siege towers while destroying your walls!
A little back of the envelope calculation shows that the number of enemy units you will encounter throughout the course of a normal level game give or take a few hundred:
As you can see, it is a very intense map.
Although, the structure is very accurate, it is the fun factor that I have concentrated upon, and I hope it appeals to Non-Tolkien enthusiasts as well.
A big achievement for me was the addition of the Rohan Cavalry (Rohirrim) which charge out to help defend the deep after 15 game months (changed to 17 months in v2.1).
NOTE : Do not select the Cavalry before 17 months, or they might fail to charge out automatically, or worse, not come at all!

Keep in mind that This is a Tough Map! It was made to recreate the ultimate challenge, that was Helm's Deep and requires good use of all your troops. For the faint-hearted, tips to beat this map are also included in Tips.txt within the zip file.

-You'll see a bit more of the pig, playing the part of the Orc Commander to perfection ;).

-Inner side of outer wall and Outer side of inner wall made indestructable. Vastly improves AI efficiency.

-Took care of a loophole which allows you to trick the AI... not anymore.
-Rohirrim now arrive after 17 months.
-Added tips.txt to zip file, help out beginners.
v2.2 Changes :
-New placement of Rohirrim, they arrive at same time though.
-Harder Last wave consisting of 50 swordsmen, 100 Pikemen and 300 Macemen !

I love this map! Even though I only beat in in easy, it was still a great challange. The AI is great. I'm just blown away by this map. It's trueness to the movie and it's playability. All I can say is keep making these great maps!
everyone has already told you how great it is so all i have to say is, it's a true masterpeice. I think it's the best map on the site by far and urge anyone reading this to download this map. you won't be dissapointed. i look forward to your next map and hope it lives up to this magnificent stage.
Playability 5/5 very easy to play and very fun. i could have played more than 10 times and not be borred of this map.I was always awaiting gandalf great timing.
Balance 5/5 perfect! balance they get right to your final gat and even to your inner horses somtimes( although i usually move them out) but still great.
Creativity 5/5 You cant really judge this except for the map because it is based on helms deep in lotr but still great looking and put a lot of effort into it.
Map design 5/5 Great map design really like to moving i also liked the little change in the sides of the mountains.
Story 5/5 again out of the book but still i need to judge and the book is good so this is good.
Not much to say but this was the greatest map i have ever played it was so damn great i played it like 100 times. I usually dont like lotr maps because they not 2 original, and the story usually 4 because out of the book. But this is a great map and along with a great map comes a great score of 5
AMAZING GAME I won on Easy Mode BUt i cant win on Noraml cuz of those SwordMAN lol many i m just a newbie in this game :(

All I can say after playing this incredible seige map is WOW! I was a bit overwhelmed at first at the sheer magnitude of the forces on display here, but once I got settled into this map, I was able to enjoy it for what it is: A good old knock down, drag out, hell bent for leather romp. Talos has really outdone himself with this map in all aspects, and it is by far the greatest seige map I have ever played! Bravo!
Playability: 5 This map flows through the action beautifully, and while it is a very stiff challenge, it is winnable. Hard work and fast decisions are the order of the day in this pressure cooker of a map.
Balance: 5 Excellently crafted to follow the ebb and flow of battle, Talos shows all his wizardry of warfare with this brilliantly balanced and complete map.
Creativity: 5 What can I say? Anyone who has seen the LOTR: The Two Towers will recognize the frenetic and vigorous emotion of the epic battle of which this map is named after. A fitting tribute to its namesake, masterfully crafted by Talos' talented hands.
Map Design: 5 Wonderfully designed, with hidden pockets for troops laying in ambush and a long open flatland to create a sense of intense drama in waiting for the approaching hordes. The fortifications are cleverly crafted, with great detail given to mimic the designs of the movie's version of this fortress. Talos has captured the spirit of Helm's Deep with his creativity and flair.
Story/Introduction: 5 Not that this great map really needs any introduction. Talos shows his skill as a narrator as he readies you for this battle of collossal proportions. You can almost smell the sweat and determination of the defenders, and the voraciusnessof the hordes as they prepare to decide the fate of Helm's Deep. Great job!
BRILLIANT, but unoriginal. The design was fabulous and i loved everything.
I have finaly found a great helms deep map,
I envy anyone who can put this time in a map.
