Unfortunately, this was a rather disappointing scenario. The win criteria states a gold requirement of 10,000, 500 blocks of stone, 100% ale coverage and a population of 80. Pretty heavy win conditions, and I expected a long and interesting scenario where a large castle could be built. There were some scheduled invasions repeating throughout the course of the map, and one larger one towards the end, but a handful of horse archers saw them off with minimal fuss. With no other events to trouble you, I found the map to be a bit boring and nothing really grabbed me here as being a challenge. Also, there was no lose criteria set. A simple 'lord killed (any) = lose' would suffice.
As above, the invasions were weak and never troubled me. I'd strongly recommend better scripted invasions, maybe with siege equipment, and larger numbers, to make this more of a challenge. In terms of meeting the win criteria, which are all economic based, it will take some time to set up the economy so that it is in full-swing. Fairly limited oasis grass means it's not ridiculously easy and there is a decent sized outcrop of stone to support about four stone quarries. Ultimately, not really difficult. The invasion problem as above would remedy this, meaning you'd probably have to replace buildings.
In retrospect, a 2 score here is being a little generous. Again, it saddens me to see a map with very little substance to it. The premise is good and with some work the map could be a fairly decent ecovasion, but it does need work.
Map Design: 2/5
There is minimal terrain modelling here. Aside from one crudely placed raised area of terrain, a patch of oasis grass and some trees, there is nothing else here. A map needs to be well modelled to deserve a good score, and I can't justify giving a better score than 2 with so little here.
No story, nothing on the downloads description page, nothing included within the zip file. Desolation seems an apt title.
Needs some work on both terrain, events and storyline. As it stands its a playable but generally featureless scenario.
