This is the eigth stage of the campaign. 'the King of England'.
With the rat put to rest and more and more counties following in your quest your attention now turns to the snake. A ruthless leader and one of the richest in these lands the challenge will be far greater than any rodent can muster.
The Black Monks call for aid and you sent one of your allied lords to help releive the attacks on thier lands , take command and hold back the assults.
Another good map from Alexus yet agian! Playable and well balanced. I liked the castle design is simpel but fun to complete and then defend. I do feel that the series is progressing perhaps a little slow. it is going to be about 20 maps long at this state! I ma not complaining, these are all close, well designed invasions that deserve more credit than they get. Pick the right idea and you definitely have the skill to make very good maps. The maps are always creative but the serteis is following a little to closely to the origional stronghold campaign. It even starts with a similar beginning, very simple and then gets more and more complex. Another nice storyline - it would be nice to see something a little longer and maybe with a few twists. Overall I enjoyed palaying another good invasion. Keep up the good work.

A nice map here! :) I've played all of your series so far, and enjoyed them all. Keep them coming! I'm going to try and review the others, too. :)
A nicely playable map to begin with, I enjoyed expanding my town and rebuilding the castle. The trouble is, after the first invasion I had pretty much reached the point where I had nothing to do except click "train" on the barracks and wait for the next invasion. I think perhaps a few more minor invasions would have kept the player on their toes more, and perhaps an earlier (or bigger) last invasion, as the player has time to train a lot of crossbowmen and make very thick walls by the time the last one comes around. It upsets the balance a little.
I did enjoy playing it, though. ^_^
Quite a creative map, it fits well in the series, although it is rather mirroring the original campaigne. If you can take the series from here off into your own direction and keep the quality at this, then it'll become a fine and very distinct series of maps. It's already among the best SHH have to offer in the downloads.
A lovely map design, here. It shows that you don't need lots of super-original eye candy everywhere to make a lovely map-it looks good, feels natural and it's a nice environment to play in. Great work!
Keep the series going, they've been great fun to play!

An OK map but not as exciting to play as the previous maps 1 to 7b in the series.
Playability 4: Plenty of freedom to build.
Balance 3: I found I was able to wall off the only invasion route and so it was a bit one-sided. The poor old snake couldn't get at me.
Creativity 4: Quite a nice looking landscape and old ruined fortification.
Map design 3: Too easy for me to block off invasion route. Intructions were not backed up by game goals.
Story Instructions: Good in-game story but the story's instructions were not backed up by game goals. Not much story and no mini-map on site description page.
In Summary
Not as good as the previous maps in the series but worth playing as part of the series. I look forward to map 9 as being better.
