Helm's Deep Gold Edition
Changes for v1.3 - Fixed gatehouse to outer bailey, terrain, and last gatehouse.

"Where is the horse and the rider?
Where is the horn that was blowing?
They have passed like rain on the mountain,
like wind in the meadow.
The days, have gone down in the west,
behind the hills.
Into shadow"

"How did it come to this?"

- Theoden son of Thengel, TTT

HELMS DEEP GOLD EDITION
I fixed the little AI snag I ran into. I finally got this one uploaded and I hope you enjoy.

STORY OF HELM'S DEEP
Long had Saruman harrassed the people of Rohan. With the king under his spell, he did whatever his will was.
Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli had been traveling across the plains for 3 days, hunting a party of Uruks of Isengard. When they ran into a large host of the Rohirrim, they gave tidings of the party. It had been destroyed, with not a single survivor. The three thought that their journey had been in vain. Eomer, the leader of the host gave to them 2 horses, Hasufel and Arod. Legolas and Gimli rode Arod, and Aragorn on Hasufel. They followed the trail of the Uruks to the eaves of Fangorn. There they found signs of the battle and signs that the 2 hobbits may yet be alive, but deep within the forest.

"Fangorn... what madness drove them there?"
- Gimli, TTT

The three entered the forest with little hope. "Aragorn, there is something out there." said Legolas. "What do you see, Legolas?" asked Aragorn. "The white wizard approaches..." replied Legolas, as he nodded his head backwards. The three braced themselves. Suddenly a bright light appeared. Gimli and Legolas launched projectiles that shattered in the light. Aragorn's sword grew red hot and he dropped it, amazed. "You are tracking the footsteps of two young hobbits, they passed this way, the day before yestarday, and met someone they did not expect. Does that comfort you?" Said the figure.
"Who are you?... Show yourself!" Aragorn yelled.
Immediatly the light dissapated, and the mysterious figure was none other than Gandalf. "It cannot be!" said Aragorn.
After sharing what time was allowed with Gandalf there in the forest, they rode with great haste to Edoras. There they found Theoden in a sickly state. Gandalf healed him of his aleness and Grima was thrown out of the Golden
Hall. Theoden would not ride out and meet them. "What is the king's decision?" asked Gandalf.

"By order of the king, the city must empty!"
- Hama, TTT

Gandalf left Edoras in search of Eomer the same day, and the next morning all of Edoras was prepared to move.
The trek through the mountains was long and slow, but they soon reached the fortress. The whole day they prepared for the siege. Aragorn reached the fortress late in the afternoon, with news of Sarumans army, 10,000 strong.

"They should be frightened! 300, against 10,000? They are all going to die!"
- Legolas, TTT

All men had taken to the walls at nightfall, and things looked very bleak, as the wall was very empty. A horn blew! And it echoed clear and fair over the deep. 700 archers of Lorien had marched to their aid. Now there was enough men to guard the deeping wall and keep. In the distance, many torches could be seen as a storm sent from Mordor brewed overhead. The Elven archers formed three rows on the wall and 5 more behind it. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli stood together on the wall. Uruks began charging the deeping wall. For a while, they were held by the endless rain of arrows from above. Uruk crossbowmen began launching bolts at the archers, many found their mark and the elves stumbled backwards of the wall, struck by the large arrows. The lull in the rain of arrows allowed many ladders to be hoisted up onto the wall. "Swords! Swords!" Aragorn yelled. Many fair blades were drawn. Uruks began pouring up the walls, killing the elves but not making it down the steps. For a while the Uruks were held.

Now you decide the rest of the story!

Lord Arthus I am not accusing you but it looks like you copied the helms deep redux file and edited it a bit and renamed it your own. Am i right to assume this? if not it's obvious you got your inspiration from that map. Because i have seen a similar and better version your mark isn't as high. The units behind the main wall are lined up very similar to the redux map and there are alot of other similarities. I won't go on but try to design a map without coping other peoples work. Your story was good though. Sorry the review isn't too good but i'm convinced your map is too similar to the redux map.

This was made completely from scratch. I one by one, lined up the archers behind the wall. I had absolutely no thoughts of copying Redux.
Figster I thought this map was really well made but there were some odd similarities. Still many Minas Tiriths are the same and i think the review posted before was slightly harsh. The map does look similar but I am almost 100% sure that zerotide came up with this map himself althought with a broken right hand which also seems very odd indeed. Besides that my full review will be posted on later.

After that being said i think this was a great map and i really enjoyed it and Good luck with the hand mate!

Actually Figster, I whipped this up before I broke my hand. I have just made a few small changes to it. Plus, my arm is fully healed. I get the cast off soon.
Many of the things in this map are common knowledge with close examination of the structure of Helms Deep. (Which I did alot of.) The siege towers seem the same because that is the only way there is to get the enemy to come up onto the deeping wall. I did make this completely from scratch though. If you notice, I had my Helm's Deep v4.1 removed because I thought it was way, way, too much like redux. I tried as not use redux designs as many times as possible but as I said before. I am not going to change my map if what matches the actual structure has already been made in another map.
NAT I have played this map through an to me it claer that this map is not made from Helms Deep Redux. This is Zeroide's own map (from scratch). It is just there are soem simularities between the two maps. But it is very hard not to! Whenever I think of Helms Deep I can only think of Redux so no wonder there is a little bit of copying.

Anyway on with my review of the map. This is a good fun Hems Deep - very playable and well balanced. The fortress itself is quite similar to Redux but manily is the authors own work especially the Hornburg which is very creative - good stuff. It was close when I played the map, just losing twice on normal so the map is pretty close - I did try and retreat the Deeping Wall but I failed as for som reason I could notget through the back gate (some small bug as the gate was open). It was fun to have some boiling oil - you need it! The fortress itself was a little confusing - navigating it was actually quite hard. I also found the tunnel system a little confusing! The map design outside the fortress was a little plain, mostly pretty ordinary especially the mountains - that simple rock design is not very releastic. The storyline for this map was exclelent, cannot be faulted, enugh for a 5 here so good work. Overall a good fun map, well balanced and pretty creative. Good work!
WDP iCD I would first like to say I am not reviewing as the zerotide's brother, or as an experienced map designer, so Im going to do the best I can under those conitions

I liked this map even though i was there when zerotide was working on it and i havent played redux yet so i dont know what that is like. I thought this was good because i knew all the backround work he put into this.
Lord Arthus Sorry zerotide, reading over what i said i think i was being a bit too harsh, i studied the two maps and although there are many simalarities it is obvious you did it yourself. Overall good job!
