This is my invasion version of the battle for
Helm's Deep. I have been working on it for
quite some time now, so I hope you all like it !
The story
King Theoden of Rohan has fled to Helm's Deep.
He thinks his people will be safe there, you
must command your army to victory. Gandalf is
in the lower left corner with 300 Rohirrim, let
him come in time (when the gate is almost
breached). The elven army is on the Deeping Wall,
and there are some behind the wall. The horses in
front of the keep represent Aragorn and Theoden
riding out. Pay attention to the gate and if it's
necessary take your monks out to stall some time,
hold as long as possible ! If the Wall is breached
make sure to get most of the (elven) archers out of
there. It's a very hard map and I only tried it at
normal and hard difficulty, but I recommend normal.
You lose when 578 of your men are killed.
Just extract the .map file into your StrongholdMaps
folder and it will work !
This being your second Helm's Deep map, I was expecting good improvements. There were barely any. Map design was still plain, balance was off, and the castle structure was the same. Don't get me wrong, I found a few things I liked about this map. The map was fun until the end, when the enemy just sat around the signpost, and it would have been impossible to try in attack them as you can only lose a certain number of troops and there were many crossbowmen sitting around. A nice attempt at a story, which raised the score. Another thing, you gave the player alot of stone. I was able to repair the gatehouses and strengthen the weak spot in the deeping wall.

Playability-the map was fun, but FAR too easy, even on very hard. See Balance.
Balance-not good! Your army look like you've gathered the entire Middle Earth to fight. It is far too strong - 300 horses combined with the forces inside the castle makes up an invincible army. I simply counterattacked, taking minimal losses! Much room for improvements (e.g. reduce the number of Rohirrim).
Creativity-there are quite a lot of Helm's Deep maps out there, and if there should be another, it should be a bit different than the existing ones. This map looks too simple.
Map design-it doesn't look like you've spent a lot of time on that. There are no vegetation except from the grass, the terrain is mostly level, and the castle looks too simple (straight walls). What saves this from the lowest mark is that your archers are lined up on the wall, and you've included the weak spot in the Deeping Wall.
Story-like the LOTR. I like that film, so it should be a 5, but the lack of proper instructions pulls this down.
