Thank you for taking interest in this map.
Story:
You and your men have been seperated from the attacking forces of the First Crusade. You have managed to set up a tiny fort in the desert.
Notes:
I noticed that the least popular units in the game were probably Mobile Shields, and I also realized that Stronghold had wooden walls which are not present in Stronghold Crusader, So i made a fort out of shields. I hope this idea catches on or something. If this map is bad or unplayable or something please email me at Aerman4567@aol.com.
Thank You. |

When you start this game, you'll notice the wall of shields around the manor house - that's creative, I don't think I've seen that done before. It works nicely for most of the short game... but it's surprising how quickly lions smash shields! Next you'll notice that there isn't the ability to buy or sell anything, and that you don't have any starting goods beyond some food. You're provided with two hunter's posts, so your mission is to protect them long enough to acquire the requisite 30 meat. If anything goes wrong, there's no way to recover. I played this mission 3 times on normal, and lost every time. I survived the invasions, but the lions took out the shields every time, so that the next batch of slaves were able to sweep in and burn everything down. The lord died in the last attempt and the game continued, so adding a Lord Killed-Lose condition might be a good idea.
Playability is a 2 because there isn't anything to do other than set the troops on aggressive in hopes that they can protect the hunters' posts. And without any wood or the ability to get more, the game is limited.
Balance is also a 2. The invasions themselves aren't that difficult, but coming as they do at the same time as the lion attack and the slaves' fire (which happened all three times)... combined with no way to recover... it meant restarting it every time. On the plus side, this is a very short game, so restarting it wasn't frustrating as it would be with a longer, more involved game.
Creativity gets a 3, as the idea with the shields is creative, as is the concept of the map itself - protecting the hunters.
The map was rather basic - it had some ruins and a few hills, otherwise it was mostly flat without very much in it. Map design: 2
The story and instructions were good - a text file with installation instructions, the story, the mission, and a hint. Story: 4
All in all this map has some elements of gameplay that make it different and interesting... yet those same elements work to decrease the playability. |

Playability: 2
It was okay, but the invasions happen so fast you can't realy win, you need to add some more wood or some thing...
Balance: 1

Creativity: 3
The wall of shields was a cool idea
Map Design: 2
You need to make the "sea" bigger or something, and the rest looks kinda flat.
Story/Instructions: 5
I realy liked the historicly accurate discreption.
Additional Comments:
If you make a more detailed map, with more "bandts reinforcing you, an the invasions farther apart, you'd make a good map. |

Can be played very nicely. Since I made it on the first try (without any reload) I am supposed to give this "only a 4" according to the rules. (Kind of silly, but they have a point somehow)
Balance: 5
Perfect balance between troops given, size of invasions and time needed to get 30 food before they get really nasty...
Creativity: 5
Just amazing. Period.
Map Design: 4
Very nicely made but not "perfect"
Story/Instructions: 4
Hate to do this but: You should mention the goals somehow I guess? It's kind of "err, what am I supposed to do in this outpost?"
Additional Comments:
I enjoyed it a lot! Something different for a change. |
