You as Sir Longarm are in charge of a sort of "Medieval SAS" as you attempt to rescue the King from his evil French captors! This is a hostage situation. His captors will kill him if he tries to escape. You must rescue him at all costs.
This map fits in nicely with the campaign when Sir Longarm leaves with the ransom money you collected to negotiate the return of the King.
A more in-depth story is included.
Enjoy.
PS. Its more of an Ecovasion than Economic map.
Slightly updated 13/9/04:
-Disabled stone towers (thanks riphell)
-Made slightly easier with a few more starting goods to sell.
very interesting......
playability:well seeing its the first map of its kind its the best in playability!
balance:very well ballanced and changing scenario based on difficulty. sadlly pesky wolf and banddits oftern go to random targets which can somtimes meen being attacked all the time or not at all!
creativity:for inventing a new map idea 5!
map design: nothing new here but not weak.
story instructions:very good really gives you all the info you need and gives the map some soul defently like most of zebases other maps has alot of research into the background of the campaighn!
other comments: very good map idea of having to save the lord from execution having archers s--l---o---w---l---y tacking his health away. also with the use of different amounts of gold needed on different difficulties it makes easy easy and hard hard!

Hint: Captives also have their part to play in hostage stuations.
Make sure you have the patch installed.
Any comments would still be appreciated - yes, even after this amount of time...

I was passing by out of curiousity and noticed the minimap graphic link was dead. So I took the liberty of adding the minimap. In the process I had to guess that the version used was v1.1 (the update form insists that the version is now added)

A really original and exciting scenery (more kind of a siege map). The Lord is imprisoned and on the way to the gallows. Or can he be employed for a while? Better so, because two archers are shooting at him.
Meanwhile, a decent fixed force has to protect a settlement of unreplacable buildings against wolves and bandits And to conquer the walls of the enemy to eventually save the Lord whose hit points are about to run out.
I especially love the use of siege towers.
For the rest of the time, you collect the gold missing to the ransom.

It might be the patch but for some reason I'm not getting the fifty archers, the badits don't stop and I can't control my king. Anyone know where to find a patch? I know this scenario is 5 years old but I just started playing Stronghold about a year ago so it's new to me. Ty for any help.

Hello VtArcher,
the Lord became controllable with the 1.1 patch, I think. The SH copy you have now could even be of 1.2 version.
