Lord Bovine ,the kings brother in law , a portly being who alway wore gowns. Moon faced and holding a drumstick in one hand while scratching his derriere with the other. The king noticing him while thinking,he would be perfect for the cow farm, cow stench between his toes ,surely wouldn't hurt his demeanor..None of his other Lords are as likely as a suspect...approached and given the task as Lord of Bryn Du. Perking up and wiping the grease off the corners of his mouth, said I must bathe, and put on a fresh gown........will I be coronated shire? The King said ,get thee from my sight you fat swine. He left for Bryn Du the next moring.Thinking ,..I ...will be a (his Highness),eating steaks an napping with a wench.....or better yet wenches, sounds wonderful...I shant have to work.
This map is very playable and very beautiful to look at! From the minimap in the game it looks as though it's mostly covered in water, but when you open it up, you see that the islands and land areas are cleverly connected by wood bridges and land bridges. The landscape is very natural looking, and there are neat things to watch for, such as the spring in the middle of the cow farm. With careful clearing of trees, there's more than enough room for farms. I liked being able to use the iron mines entirely as money-making enterprises!
While very enjoyable, this isn't an especially difficult map - I finished in 13 game years. I was glad that the goal of 2000 cheese (on Normal) was lessened to 1200 in the updated version(!), as after every inch of ground is covered with production/farming buildings, and the population is at max, it's just a matter of waiting for the cheese to accumulate. To deal with the bandits I stationed all the available knights, etc. near the signpost so they could be slaughtered whenever they showed up. Maybe another signpost or two so I'd have to make the knights run around more - except you wouldn't want to decrease available farmland - a balancing act! Also, maybe vary some of the events? (i.e. mix up the plagues and fires?). Just a few suggestions as balance can be hard to achieve!
Altogether, a wonderful map - very beautiful, can't stress that enough - and fun to play! Looking forward to the next one!
