Author File Description

File Details
Map Size: 400x400 (Large)
Difficulty: Hard
General Comments:
Your kingdom is under threat, a new barbarian leader is threataning to overrun your fathers kingdom.
You are sent by your Father do oversee the defence of the only way into your land, A ford crossing over the great
Elwyd River. The castle was built years ago when there was unrest in the land and your forfather changed the
course of the river so it formed a natural moat. The most is mostly filled up, and there is great need of
dreadging to be done. You begin this task, but time is against you and before you can finish there enemy are at your gates.
Can you defend the kingdom or will you be overun by the enemy.
Tips:

- Defeneders must use there troops wisly.
-Attackers = There is a secert way into the castle but it is heavly defended.

This was a fun siege. On defense its a challenge but you want to play it on the hard setting as I won on the normal setting with 50% troop loss. I tend to enjoy games more that go right down to the wire, and I wasnt really all that worried with the casualties that I was taking. On the attack is an entirely different situation. Thats where this siege gets good. I have come within earshot of winning twice and will play it until I do. I recommend this siege to anyone who enjoys a strategic challenge, but remember its best played as the attacker.

lol Edster - the second map in a row where you should have told us to ATTACK, not DEFEND.

As was the first Kingdom War, Defending is easy - the real fun comes on the Attack. Aside from setting a pitch patch on fire now and then, I didn't have much to do on defense, yet won handily.

Attacking, however, required a methodical approach. As with many of your maps, the pitch patchs provide a challenge to avoid. The gold was carefully balanced compared to the towers and ballistas and I didn't do my standard crossbow win - I had to actually storm the Keep.
First try win, but 80% dead. The final pitch patch was quite deadly but, hey - they were only macemen and they died to clear the way for my swords.

PLAYABILITY: You will prolly get 5s on these as soon as you give us the harder side to play.

BALANCE: As Defender, slightly out of balance (3) - which is a deduct since the name of the scenario is "Defending the Ford". As attacker, very well balanced( 5). Thus, overall: 4

CREATIVITY: The Castle was well-made with excellent defenses incorporated into it's design. There have been a bunch of this type map lately - many with bridges - but you present the idea better than most.

MAP DESIGN: Nothing flashy, but not mundane, either. I had room to maneuver on Offense but got funneled into the expected killing fields once I began my assault.

STORY/INSTRUCTIONS: Above average, but not in the highest echelon yet. Especially since you are doing a KW campaign now - give us a little more depth :) AND, create a storyline which matches your scenario's strength for game play. In this one, making a story to have us attack would have been a better choice, since it was as the Attacker that the scenario was challenging.
