THERE IS A FLAW IN THE SCRIPTING OF THIS MAP THAT PREVENTS YOU FROM WINNING UNTIL 24 YEARS FROM THE STARTING YEAR. The map is playable but you will have to wait that long to win unless you edit it yourself.
Playability: 2. This map seems to hold a lot of promise but needs a serious overhaul to make it a fun map. There is just not enough jeopardy to keep interest up. It's rated as normal difficulty, but I would say it should be labeled as easy. There are fairly high eco goals but they're not that hard to achieve due to the free reign you have over your economy and settlement area. Invasions are smallish, start quite late, are easy to deal with and stop at a certain point. Although there are a lot of them, they end up presenting no more concern than a pack of wolves. Another big fault on this map is the number of archers that keep trotting into camp. A total of 1200 spread over the years. Even though I created crossbowmen, I don't think you need to train any troops to win. I deliberately sent many hundreds of archers to their deaths just to keep the numbers down. There are no scripted events other than the archers. Adding some would certainly help this map. There are a couple of serious flaws in the scripting. (1) There is no lose condition, you cannot lose, (2) the win condition is placed 24 years from the starting year. You cannot win this scenario until that year, even if all victory conditions are met. The win condition should be moved up near the beginning of the time line.
Balance: 2. I think this map would play better with fewer scripted archers, more scripted events, and larger invasions starting sooner. I'm sure other things could be done as well. As balanced now it's just too easy and not interesting enough.
Creativity: 3. Average creativity.
Map Design: 3. I liked the design, a large wooded area with many small hills and plateaus, and marsh. Had a very nice feel and was very nice looking, even though it only used standard, average terrain detailing. Four other small settlements add to the interest of the design. This map is unusual in that it contains a massive amount of wolves and deer. The map starts maxed out on sprites with only 5 or less remaining, but the wolves start killing off the deer and about 1100 carcasses later they'll have their fill. It's probably a good idea to let as many of the wolves alone as possible so they can thin the herds as fast as possible. With 1200 archers due at various times the sprite limit (1500) could be of concern. I don't think it really affected my play although it may have had some impact.
Story/Instructions: 3. Short story in the game, but not posted online.
An easy map that needs some serious balance tweaking to become fun.
