KING'S COUNSELLOR:
"The Ignis Ater castle was once a flourishing castle near the Askalam Sea. It had been owned by Your father, King Joseph I of the Empire for over 100 years 'till it was captured by the Union tribes in 2 b.C. using a passage built beneath the wall fundation in the east wing. We were forced to retreat in the forests around the valley of river Emthion. Some of us stole our ships, ran away and became pirates leaving Your father without a fleet.Ever since, we have tried many times to retake the castle but we were too few and King Wolfheart who now ownes the castle has blocked the the secret passage with stones, has built dams to prevent us from passing the river and added aditional defence like moats and balistas. We have prepared the last months for a last attack wich will decide wether wedeserve our fate or were we ment to rule Ignis Ater for another century. Unfortunatelly Wolfheart found out about this and captured King Joseph and his companions while spying over the land. He decapitated Your father hoping thar it will destroy our morale... he was wright but it also had a positive effect. Something that we never even dreamed of happened: The corsairs returned to our cause promissing that they will help us avenge your father. Angry, king Wolfheart sent most of his troops to intercept them.Fortunatelly Our old ally, Sultan Mustapha has remembered the deal he made with your father a long time ago and marched with his ships in our allys' aid even if he has no obligation to a dead lord, Your dead father. He also sent a small group of men in our aid sensing that they would be a great help. Time will decide if there will be any friends comming from the sea side.We can wait no longer. The Union King is torturing the Kink Joseph's crossbowmen to find out where we are located. We don't have where to hide... We have to attack NOW! It's your destiny, sir Joseph II, to kill Wolfheart for all the misery he brought to the city and to us.This is a unique chance 'cause Wolfheart has concentrated his remaining army near the sea entry in case the corsairs win the battle. If we take the south-east way we might take him by surprise"
kING'S STRATEGIST:
"Wolfheart has blocked most of the ways inside the castle we will have to use our digging units in the South-East to relieve our main army. Also try to free the crossbowmen from the doungeon. They will be the only ranged troops we'll have except siege equipament. Last time we checked they were building a moat around the doungeon. If they finished, it will be hard to pass the main gate and may require help from the corsairs if they make it. They were supposed to arrive at the attacking date of January 0 but I think they will be delayed or... they will never show up..."
King's Jester (singing):
I once knew a pair of kings
One recived in heaven wings
One will wish was never born
When Joseph II blows the horn
The second one was wolfheart
He was stinkey like a fart
He was rich but wanted more
I Think his mother was a...

Ignis Ater
Wow, what an addictive map by Leaveyou! Ignis Ater is a well-balanced combination of a creative puzzle system and of multiple military options depending on your strategy to attack Wolfheart’s Castle. There are also many “tricky” tasks hidden in this perfectly created scenario, where you have to handle both natural and strategic conditions.
You will start with a few military forces on your side, assisted by a troop of Arabian slaves, blocked up on the southeastern corner of the map by a deep moat. My first thought: Could I be successful with regard to the initial situation, when I saw a well-defended enemy’s castle?
I’ve played it twice. In my first attempt, I’ve made several tactical mistakes, but in my second try, I’ve coordinated my actions more carefully completing all the “puzzles” step by step. Believe me; you can even win without using your archers or the liberated crossbowmen. One single tip: Don’t underestimate the military abilities of engineers…!
Playability:
That is great! It’s very well playable with lots of possibilities given to achieve the demanded goal. Here you’ll find a real challenge for your skill and plenty of other things to discover…
Balance:
Well, balance is rather difficult to rate. If you’re on the “right track”, it will certainly be easier for you, if you get stuck, it will become hard for you to make progress. Therefore, it would be better to restart the mission. In any case, it is advisable to save a lot.
Creativity:
Creativity set on a high level you can find everywhere. Several new ideas concerning map design are perfectly mixed with tactical and strategic elements.
Map Design:
It’s not outstanding, but in general very well modelled and quite realistic, figuring a few “tricky” areas that represent various obstacles.
Story:
A well-written, very authentic, and believable story with some author’s notes and hints put in, leading to the demanded objective of the actual mission.
I absolutely recommend playing this excellent map, don’t pass by!
I promise you lots of fun with it.
