In this two-player map, one player rules the stone & iron rich highlands while the other enjoys the fertile plains below. Each region has its benefits and its drawbacks.
The map is best played with TRADING turned OFF, making resource control crucial for either side. Starting Goods should be set for at least Medium, although a Low setting can be used for a more difficult, if not very short, game.
Played in this manner, the Highlanders can expect to scrounge for lumber in the beginning. But once they're on their feet, the Highlanders will command a fiercesome army which utilizes the finest weapons & armor. Combined with the strong defensive and offensive capabilities of stone, these invaders from the north should beat into submission any land that would resist their emminent domain.
The Plainsfolk on the other hand, benefit greatly from the rich soil of the valley below. Their fertile land allows them to enjoy a variety of food and a healthy economy. Together with the seemingly endless supply of lumber which their forests provide, this farming community can quickly martial a massive force capable of overwhelming their enemies. With limited access to stone & iron, the people of the plains make-up for their more simplistic weapons with shear number. Whether it be through a war of attrition or a massive show of force, the Plainsfolk are fully capable of seizing the high ground and conquering any foolish mountain folk who stand in their way.
