A castle has always stood in the valley of Helms Deep. But castles have not always been made of stone. Before stone castles, there was wood. Before Sauron, there was Morgoth. Before the large scale bloody battles of the third age, there were large bloody battles of the first and second ages...Nothings changed really.
Based upon the history of Middle Earth, Old Helms deep tells the (fictional) story of Morgoths desire to kill the elves, and how it led him to the fortress of Helms Deep. This wooden fort will have to stand up to tremendous punishment. Morgoth is no pushover. More evil than Sauron and with more power expect a long hard siege. The castle has been designed to be as functional as possible while providing the maximum defence. Allies keep arriving, but will they be enough to turn the tide against these impossible odds. Sauron marches on Helms Deep commanding the bulk of Morgoths army. Horns can be heard in the distance...War is upon us!

Old Helms Deep is my submission to the Castles of Wood, men of Leather competition.
I have tried to keep this map as close to the film as possible. Troops can be placed inside the hornburg and the enemy will try to get in both the front and back gates, so the deeping wall needs to be defended.
I hope everyone finds it enjoyable and chalanging. Good Luck!
Any comments reviews would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Overall, good, nay excellent map. Now personally, I'm a huge and rabid Tolkien fan, but I like your story.
