I played this map on hard diffuculty setting, and needed two tries.
This map looks a bit like the siege mission, "the vipers nest", but it plays differently.
Playability : I enyojed playing this map, but it was too easy, even on hard. This was mainly because:
-I could build walls with one piece of stairs on both ends to connect the plateaus.
-Sieging the other castle was too easy because I could build trebs, against them it had no defence (ballistea).
Balance : Both economically and military this map was too easy for me. This was because :
-I could grow wheat and there were no economic setbacks at all. Also, I could buy and sell almost everything at the marketplace. The military part wasn't well balanced too, there were a lot of small invasions, but never a big challenging one.
Creativity : This map is a nice adaption of "the vipers nest", I especially liked being able to build a castle.
But sadly though, there were no events at all, accept invasions.
Map design
The map itself looked ok, it wasn't very beatifull, but it had some nice stuff like iron pits and the designers name,'Derusett'was carved out in mid plain.
Story : The story was very short, not original or thrilling, and had 4 spelling mistakes in it, as well as poor grammar. It also had no bond at all with the scenario, cause ther was no scenario, except for the invasions of course.
Derusett,
thanx for rating two of my maps, and sorry that I'm not giving you high marks, but I have to be honest, not in the least to help you improve.
If you want to make this map better I would advise you to :
- first of all take a good look at 'the serpents nest' then,
-think of a nice story and back it up with events.
-make the economy more challenging by adding setbacks and maybe removing the bread.
-remove the trebs
-maybe remove stone, to prevent the player from building 'bridges', so he actually has to go through the maze.
-restrict the marketplace options
I hope this helps, Lord_ako
