Map Size: 400x400 (Large)
Difficulty: Easy
Part 3 (and I promise the last - hey, I'm just a beginner, ya know) of Reward from the King and Devastation.

You were never expecting to rule these lands. Your elder cousin has had enough, between the invasions, the arsonist, and plauges. He has taken himself off to explore the world, figuring that to be safer. You must rebuild this region to its former glory and defend it against someone who'd rather you fail....

This again is relatively easy, somewhat long, and mostly economical.

This map is just as the author says: fairly easy, and economic in nature. :)

It took me twelve years to achieve victory, which wasn't too long. I think I would have won a lot sooner except for one thing: the map has a lot of farms, quarries, iron mines, etc. that didn't belong to me, and a lot of time passed before I noticed. Why didn't I notice? Because I was trying to bring my popularity level back up. The game begins with about 135 peasants, and only enough hovels for 80, so popularity quickly falls. I didn't take particular notice of the red circles over the industries as I just associated it with the departing peasants. ;-) Once I realized it, however, I quickly placed some farms and iron mines of my own, and ramped up weapon production, which was necessary to meet the economic goals, but not to add to my forces.

The attacks were not very hard. The crossbowmen on the walls took care of the first one, and I sent my macemen and knights out to fend off the final wave.

The map features a fairly simple castle, a nicely meandering river, and some pleasant groupings of churches, farms and hovels. I liked the rock-lined paths around the map. :)

The story was good, but kind of misleading... I built a lot of wells, anticipating fires which never came. (I guess those happened in part two of this trilogy!)

All in all, this map is recommended for new players to the game. Without a time limit, you have as much time as you need to meet your goals. And the attacks won't prove too challenging.

Nicely done, shellybean!
