The map is quite short and you don't get a chance to enjoy the map for very long. I liked the idea of commanding a large force of spearmen to meet the enemy in battle. But, the spearmen pretty much wiped out the enemy, and so my archers just picked off the last survivors. The replay value is seriously limited because there are no challenges that make the player interested and want to play again.
The map's balance was off, but only by a little. I thought the map was a little on the easy side. But, that's just me. The map was too short to have any serious balance issues.
The map was average in originality and creativity. The landscape wasn't too original. Some of the map's space wasn't put to the best use. Most of the map was empty grass space. The castle was well put together, but I think that there were too many shrubs on the slope near the castle.
Map Design: 3
The map design was alright. But I think more textures and different brush sizes could have been added into the map. The dirt path was good, but looked a little to square shaped. The river was good, it was nice and curvy, but I think ripple feuatures could have been added as well as rocks. In the rest of the map, I think there could have been stones, dirt, and grass brushes used.
The story was nonexistant. At least a small description of the map would have been nice. I noticed that there was a sentence in the description box, I think it was in French. It would be best if this could be translated, then at least the map would have a little story or instruction.
OVERALL: I realize that no one likes a harsh review, at least I don't. But I think reviews like this one are needed for designers that have great potential. Reviews like this one may help the author create better maps and succeed in their future career as a Stronghold designer. Good luck with your next map. You have great potential, just keep designing, I hope to see more of your work later on.
