The town of Veron is situated in the South of France, between the Mountins of Andorra and the City of Archachon. The Razan, an evil race who live in a cave in the Mountains are attacking the town. The Comte, Vincent Bregon, has heard of the invasion force, and has fortified his town. The castle has 3 main defences- The Gatehouse wall, which tricks the AI 3 times, a wall of Towers, and A Moat Maze. The castle has a huge garrison, as Veron is, in peacetime, a popular Market Town, so many people have flocked to the towns aid. The Razan mainly use Arabian units, but often use the stronger Crusader ones for the final blow. Will you be able to defend Veron from the Evil of the Razan, or will the Razan finally get a proper town to live in, and to spread terror over the surrounding countryside?

Hy, I'm Leaveyou, the author of the "tricks & strategies list"
You have inspired yourself from.
I have a few advices for you:
1)My strategies were not ment to be used for map making because they make your castle much too strong;
2)what you got there is a castle with loads of archers... well I don't think the enemy slingers and macemen would stand any chance so try making it easyer
3)REMEMBER THIS: Don't use the tricks for map making (except for those ment to be used there like the gatehoouse trick) Let the player read them and if he is smart, use them because if you give him the castle already done he will never learn anything from the mission nor from the tricks.
I don't have any problems with you using the game strategies I have discovered but "use then wisely" or use them on your own, not for maps (I can't give you good marks for creativity and map design for my own ideas

The Stronghold of Veron

Above all, at the outset, there isn’t much to prepare for an efficient strategy of defence. I myself ordered my entire initial numerous archers to the frontline and erected an additional fourth long wall (inclusively one gatehouse!) in front of the castle; these defensive preparations were well practicable because of the initial big amount of stones on the stockpile. Thus, I was safe for the rest of the game and I got an impregnable fortress for the future. The first attacks by mainly Arabian units didn’t bother me and my casualties were negligible. Nevertheless, other bad events like fires and plagues kept me busy at first. A big fire nearly devastated my economic structures if I wouldn’t have taken precautions against it by providing some wells.
Fortunately, food production took place inside the castle, so that I was able to concentrate on the offensive after the stabilization of food supply. You don’t mishear, that’s right, the offensive!
Since the hostile invaders, inclusively their siege equipments thought it advisable to stay at the signpost. Just a few smaller groups of slaves, assassins, and Arabian swordsmen tried to destroy my iron mines outside on the hills. The occasional attacks against my front wall were easy to repel. Several hordes of bandits collided with the invading troops and were eliminated by them in small massacres, which weren’t dangerous for me. After all, the extermination of all adverse troops purely became a matter of duty being a little bit boring and lengthy. I managed this task by one fire ballista with assistance of a dozen of archers without any bigger problems.

The author set the story in the South of France, but I doubt it, if there is really such a landscape to find that represents the character of a desert. The castle itself has three defensive lines, where the first two outer ones (the gatehouse-wall and the wall of towers) affect me like being unnatural. I think, one thick wall fortified with crenelations and round or square towers would be sufficient and more authentic with regard to ancient medieval French castles. The hilly and bizarre landscape is well designed and the player has to track down all suitable iron deposits to mine. The stone resources in my opinion were not necessary and I didn’t use them at all. By the way, the tunneler’s guild was superfluous.
Lord Thingol describes with few clear words the current status quo and he presents us an attractive minimap that makes curious of more…

This mission is classified as hard. Concerning the economic part, it’s true, however with regard to the military part it’s quite easy to handle.

Try this basically interesting map and form a personal judgement about it!
