Story:
"Sir, the Commander wishes to speak with you, he says it's something to do with the war."
"Well let him in for God's sake, I wished I'd never employed a spokesman. Move yourself man!"
"My lord it's the armies of Horb-Am-Nakar, they're besieging the castle!"
"Are they now?"
"Yes, they are"
"I'm surrounded by idiots! You just said that man!"
"Oh yeah! I did didn't I!"
*Lord Thingol slaps him in the face*
"Shut up why can't you! Right, get the ranged troops to the walls, 25% of the melle troops to the keeps and place the rest around the castle. Move yourself Man!"
"But Sir..."
"Out! GET OUT!"
*Commander hurries out and orders the men to positions and Lord goes up to the top of his Keep. Melee Troops arrive.*
"Sir the kingdom of Horb-Am-Nakar has amassed a huge army, and is assaulting your kingdom! All the Watch Towers and Outposts have been taken, and the men massacred in cold blood! We must stop these savage Barbarians before they destroy the world as we know it"
"Well, you know your orders man, get your squad ready."
"Yes Sir!"
"We are the Maceman"
"Sorry!?"
"Oops, sorry sir, it's just our chant"
*Lord Thingol walks over and knocks the captain of
the maceman's head*
"Wake up man, we're not in a church! No Crosses, No candlesticks and No gold plates!!! Knock your head and come to the present! You cannot fight with thoughts of Monks and Vicar's now can you!"
"Sorry sir"
"I should hope you are!"
"Sir, I think we should get some more archers up here?"
"Nope, they're fine where they are."
"But sir, they will have a greater range up here"
"Hmmph, I guess you're right"
"I know I am"
*Lord Thingol slowly turns round and punches the
archer in the face with each word.*
"Don't be Cheeky you fool!"
"I'VE HAD IT UP TO MY HEAD WITH YOUR IMPUDENCE! LEARN SOME MANNERS OR YOU'LL FIND YOURSELF ON THE RECIEVING END OF A WHIP!"
"Gulp"
"Sorry"
"I should think so"
The battle rages on, and finally, Lord Thingol wins. The enemy army is in tatters, and the castle of Thingoleri heald firm.
"Eeeeaaaarrrggghhh!" All the men turned to watch the Lord of Horb-Am-Nakar, for it was he who had roared like a condemned man being dragged to execution. With his sword he was feverishly hacking at all his men around him. Tearing himself away from them, oblivious to the onlookers, he jabbed the blade skyward and began hurling abuse, at the men, at the failure... At the Lord!
Even though the soldiers were men hardened to the vilest of oaths, they were riveted speechless by their Lord's blasphemy. Lord Thingol fell on his knees and prayed to God. Across on the eastern horizon, bruised dull skies gave way to immense banks of jet-black thunderclouds, building up out of nowhere. With fearsome speed they boiled and rumbled until they darkened the daylight oerhead. Simultaneously, a bang of thunder shook the very ground they were standing on and a colossal chain of crackling lightning ripped the clouds apart. |

Playability: 2
The scenario's playability is really weakened because of the terrain. It isn't a lot of fun to play this mission because there are no real challenges. You don't have to defend multiple sides, there are no enemy siege engines, and the AI does not perform very well under your map conditions. I am afraid more experimentation will be needed to make this map more enjoyable.
Balance: 4
I think that the map was a little on the easy side. But good job in the balance category! It's good to have balance, no matter what the map is like. Good work getting the AI to attack in appropriate waves.
Creativity: 2
The terrain and textures of the map were quite plain. Grass, dirt, and ocean were the only textures on the map. Try adding some stones, rocks, grass, and other brush sizes and textures to your future maps.
Map Design: 2
Most of my comments on the terrain and overall level design were in the creativity section. Take more time desiging your maps, and they will score better in reviews. The more time, energy, and perseverance you put into your maps, the more people will enjoy them and want to play on them.
Story/Instructions: 4
Good work here, I liked the story, a little comical at parts. Nice work overall on the story, keep it up in your later pieces of work. They really add a nice spark to your maps. Good job, not too much else to say.
OVERALL: Take more time on your maps. Put all of your efforts into one map for a while, without mass producing scenarios for download. I'll bet more than anything that the one map will receive at least a 4.0, but only if you put all of your strength, time, and effort into the map. Good luck, and be sure to take your time and think logically in your next maps. |
