The Forests of Chelmsford

Author File Description
File Details
Map Size: 200x200 (Small)
Difficulty: Normal
Yet another Irenindor series map, this scenario finds you in a small wooden outpost, protecting from wolves and two Wolf attacks.

After the brutal attack on Oakenforth, the remnants of the 58th Pike Regiment have been chased across the Provinces of Irenindor, and have finally come to the outskirts of Chelmsford, a small village. After several unsuccessful attempts to raid the village for food, your regiment decides to turn back. Immediately, pickets noticed parties of Southerners, led by none other than Brigadier Loup, the vicious commander who murdered the surrendering garrison of Hyre. Luckily, one of the Lieutenants has already set up a small outpost on some hilltops. Some of the crossbowmen from the 115th Crossbow Regiment have taken up residence on the surrounding hills. Doubtless the enemy will have armored infantry, and so the crossbows are welcomed. They've only just finished a small stockade, but it should keep the wolves out that prowl the country this time of year.

A nice short invasion map that I enjoyed playing. There wasn't any serious castle building to be done, but yet, still, I found it entertaining.

Playability: 4
I enjoyed playing the map, I personally found it a nice break from those giant massive invasion scenarios these days. I had fun defending the small wooden fort. A nice quick map with medium sized invasions. Good job in this category.

Balance: 4
The map was a little on the easy side. I played on normal mode and survived without suffering too much. The map didn't have many challenges, so that also contributed to throwing the balance off. Perhaps adding in bandits, fires, plagues, stronger invasions, or a struggle to get particular resources might have made the map more difficult.

Creativity: 3
I think that creativity in this map is quite good. I liked the map, it was fun to observe and play on. I like the creative fort/outpost that you have the player defend. The map is quite fun because of the creativity expressed in the landscape and castle design.

Map Design: 4
I liked the terrain you created in this map. Excellent use of rocks. I liked the river, but I think a little more detail could have been added to it. The map was quite short and the script wasn't too complicated. The scripting of events could have been elaborated a bit. I think that you created the 'Chelmsford Forest' quite well. Good work.

Story/Instructions: 4
I thought that the short story was well written, but yet short. I liked the way you portrayed the events that had happened previously, that the map does not cover. Good work here, perhaps a little more effort and you would have obtained a 5.

OVERALL: A fun map to play on. A little easy, but still fun. The landscape in the map is well done, I congratulate the author for accomplishing this. This map is especially enjoyable if you are sick of those gargantuan invasion maps. Excellent map, I hope to see more in the future.

A good map.The invasion werent to big or small which is good. The map was small but very nice. The messages fitted in with the map and gave warning just before the wolf was going to attack which was good.
The map its self was a nice design with a river flowing through it.The rocks and terrain were very nice and well placed out there could of been more of a vally floor. The story was short but good and fitted in with gameplay.

Things that could be improved is making the scenario a little harder other than that it was very nice and enjoyble to play well done.
Overall the map was a good story was good and gameplay was enjoyable.Im looking forward to see more of your maps.
Well done
