Dig for victory! [Updated!!]

Author File Description
Sir Tman
File Details
Map Size: 300x300 (Medium)
Difficulty: Normal
Minimap:
Second siege level created by Sir Tman.

You are the lord of a peacefully village.
There seems to be no problem for your rich and prospering village.
But is that true?

Well nearby villages are jealous about your rich village and as a reaction they formed an army to take over your village.
The enemy army of over 400 man-strong is marching towards you but luckily a spy has warned you of the danger.
Quickly did you scramble the troops and villagers to dig a moat around the village as a defence.
The troops also managed to place traps around the moat so the enemy will be weakened when they walk in to it.

Now you are waiting for the enemy to come.

-----------------------------------------------------------
I updated this map because I found it not complete [I found it a bit empty and wrong in some ways too.....]

So this is what I changed:
-A different keep: A wooden keep because the other didn’t fit in the story.
-I made the village looking better.
-I gave a second look to the wooden walls and changed it a bit.
-More trees and shrubs are added in this map so the whole map looks better and more alive.
-The hills and mountain are a bit changed and made looking better.

If you already downloaded and played this map once [the old version then], you will see the changes I made in this map if you download this new version.

Enjoy playing with my updated map!!

PLAYABILITY 5
This map plyed really well. No AI problems and the enemy attacked the castle from all directions. Also the map gave you some variation as to how to defend it. Subtle differences in the placement of your troops make huge differences rearding how quickly the moat is filled in. The only problem was that the wicker shields didn't go forwards with the men. I won't take marks off for this though because if they did then the map would have been unbalance because the spearmen would have had too much protection.

BALANCE 5
This map was superbly balanced. It took me three tries, all on Very Hard, to complete. You have to make decisions about the placement of individual archers to win this map so that intricacy makes it very interesting. Although you have less men than the attackers, the fear factor bonuses balance it out very well. This map is so well balanced that when i did beat it all my spearmen and macemen were dead and the last enemy soldier (a swordsman) lay dead at the entrance to my keep.

CREATIVITY 5
Um, what to say. This map was very nicely polished. Everything worked well and it was fun to play. The wooden walls were a real bonus. They look great but are hard to factor in, the fact that you did so made this map even more enjoyable. I don't have much more to say though because this is only a siege map.

MAP DESIGN 5
The terrain looked great and the castle looked even better. This map is the perfect example of simple but not simplistic. It has just enough to delight the eyes and the castle is beautifully sculpted into the terrain. This is wonderful eye candy.

STORY 4
Short but sweet. The story fits the castle and its environment perfectly. The only thing I would suggest is to add in some more advisor or enemy prompts. The court Jester one seemed a little out of place.
