The second mission in The Empire series. Hold off The Rat's attacks. Then attack his wooden castle and kill him.
The only way to do this is throu Forresthamvillage. The village were the Rat is born.
I played this map at hard difficulty and needed 3 tries to win.
Playability : It was a fun map to play, with a very challenging first few years and invasions.
Sadly though, after a few years the invasions stopped and I was given all the time in the world to prepare to attack the Rats settlement. I would have liked it much better if the pressure actually build UP. This way you are punished for waiting too long before atacking.
Balance : Basically good, but it had two problems : the one mentioned above, and the other being the economy in the long run. It ran much too sweet after a couple of years, caused mainly by the dreaded bread, and the lack of diasters. I would advice 'spicing' the economy up a bit.
Creativity : I liked the lay out of the map, in the way that it supported the story very nice, I also liked the build up of the rats settlement. There was nothing 'new' or eye-candy though.
Map design : A well laid out map, and it looked nice too.
No 5 because it lacked something very beatifull, like the lake in part1 of this campaign.
Story/instructions : The story was very nice, and had good continuity from the first episode. It also gave some instructions on how to best attack the rat.
It did have a lot of spelling and grammar errors though. As I said in my other reviews of maps by this designer, he is Dutch and probably young, so I'm willing to negate this.
However, Simon; if you're not good at writing English, get someone who is to help you, perhaps your dad.
This was also the last time I will let it slip in my review, next time I WILL take points of the story rating.
