The Conquest VIII -
As soon as Spring had allowed, Prince Edward had marched north deep into the mountains, up along the ancient Eledrin Pass. News reached him however that a huge army of the Wolf was marching down the Pass to meet him. Taking cover in the ancient castle of Linreddeth Prince Edward readied his defence and sent out riders calling for aid. It had barely been a few days when the Wolf's mighty horde appeared on the horizon as a huge black mass marching fast towards Linreddeth castle. As the men prepared to face the oncoming horde, trumpets were heard from the west. Aid had arrived; there was hope! But the battle for Eledrin Pass had begun...
The Conquest in general follows the path of Prince Edward and many other characters in their conquest for peace in the islands of Hertoin. The first five maps will be set in Sallium and the last five in Dinlathia. As well as the prologue video which can be downloaded here there will be a epilogue video.
I am afraid that this map has only one setting to play on. It makes NO or very little difference what playing level you select, it will be the same!

Another great map from the NAT team, revealing another tale in the series.
Playability-4- Prepare a few troops and train what ever men you have left then with the little time before you are reached arrange them to your best advantage.
Balance-4- This was prbably the most shaky factor of the map, though I do still award the 4 as I dont want to hurt the score, Id say it was more a 3.5 as I really wasnt tested, the enemy just reached the first wall before falling, a few just entering the first wall.
Creativity-5- As always a very creative map which shows how well both have worked to produce this fine map.
Map Design-5- Stunning map design, the mpuntains which leave a valley of paths is wonderous and no area of the map is dull.
Story-5- Follows on well and in of good standard, I really enjoy reading it. There are hints and notes to help you and a full 5 is obvious.
To sum up another spectacular map which i enjoyed, short and full of action this map won't dissapoint.
Download it now!

Another great map from the NAT team.
Playability-5
I had to keep moving around all my guys on this map. Leave them were you are, and you lose. Move them too slow, and you either lose all your archers, or your melee units, in which case you usually end up losing. I had to mix my melee guys and my archrs well, and ensure my archers were firing for as long as possible. I also had to make sure I didn't commit my melee men too early, and lose them.
Balance-3
Not counting the first try, in which I was staring gobsmacked at the scenery, I won first time. Having played the map again, I lost, then won again. It was difficult to balance because of this. Its easy too make mistakes and lose, but then, provided you keep calm, the level is fairly easy. Perhaps extra invasions would balance this out.
Creativity-5
Once gain, NAT have created something fresh and new. If nothing else, download this just to see how to do a battle scenario.
Map Design-5
Simply beutiful. Excellent cliffs, a good valley, and some lovely ruins mean that this map has one of the best designed landscapes of all the maps at SHH.
Story-5
A very long and detailed story, without plenty of background info and helpful hints for those that do get stuck. Well done to NAT for the document.
All in all, an excellent map! |
