Map Size: 400x400 (Large)
Difficulty: Normal
It is the year 1200 and the alliance of the 4 colours kingdoms is now about 75 years old from the day it was formed.

To celebrate this 75 year old alliance the 4 kings; the red, the yellow, the orange and you the black colour king have altogether agreed to hold a grand festival in the reds kings castle Xerek over 20 years from this day on. All noble families including the 4 king’s families will be gathering over 20 years in the castle to feast. The grand festival will be held to honour the 4 colours kingdom alliance and giving the population of the 4 kingdoms the feeling that they all stands together as one powerful nation.

Each kingdom will deliver the goods which they can produce the best of. For example the red kingdom from King Lazar is good in making cheese and pikes and the yellow kingdom from King Isaac is good in producing the strongest wood and metal armours.

Now we must send our best goods to castle Xerek like the beautifully created but powerful swords and fine Ale so the people there can organize the grand festival. Of course the grand festival will need money and a few other supplies to organize things so each kingdom has to send also a load of money and a few other goods.

’’Your highness wait before you go back to your castle!!!’’
’’We just received news that your castle was under attack by a army.’’
’’Your army has defeated the enemy army but for a high prise because a part of the castle buildings and walls are destroyed!’’
’’Repair and rebuild the castle and start then collecting the goods.’’

Preparations of the grand festival

I enjoyed playing this interesting map by Sir Tman. Finally, it’s a relaxing map, forming a welcome contrast to all those hard scenarios that sometimes provoke more frustration than fun.

Playability: 5

There are lots of possibilities to develop and to use all given resources. You have plenty of areas to expand. It is very well playable on different difficulty levels. Though a few building options were totally superfluous as pitch rigs (no swamps!), oil smelter or stables for knights, but that is irrelevant for mastering all demanded tasks.

Balance: 3

When I opened the game, I had to manage a little struggle next to the northern ruined walls of my castle, but after this harmless fight, I repaired the damaged walls being prepared for the forthcoming events. Then I started to tackle all economic goals. Even though periodical crop failures and mad cow disease will occur, you’ll be in a good position to handle all bad events. However, packs of wolves repeatedly attacking the working people are a constant danger through the whole game here. Consolidating your position by additional archers and crossbowmen will improve your situation and you’ll get all objectives under control. How about raids of aggressive bandits, mostly leaving behind a trace of devastation…?

Creativity: 4

Overall, it’s a convincing concept of an alliance that is well translated relating both scripting and map design. All components that are relevant to fulfil the goals, are well reasoned and in an optical good shape.

Map design: 3

The highlight and “piece of jewel” is the lovely symmetrical castle with the accurately constructed settlement, where the allies have erected their wooden keeps demonstrating the big alliance of “Four Colours”. In the south, there you find the iron deposits next to a little lake that you should mine as soon as possible (objective swords!). In the north, there are the stone resources, located in the midst of a river’s fork and surrounded by wooden palisades , but completely on flat ground, what affected me like being unfinished. I think it could be more authentic or naturalistic, if the author would elevate the land there by decorating or combining the deposits with rocks and stones of various sizes. The landscape is characterized by flat ground where a few more elevations would make it more varied. You can cut down the trees in thin forests and go hunting the deer grazing on the meadows. I personally missed some wet and swampy areas, especially near the river’s mouth to the sea. I think a little bit more effort in landscape modelling and an intensive use of bushes, stones, and detailed water design would optimize the graphical outfit.

Story: 4

I could identify with this pithy well-written story and right from the start, I got a general idea of the tasks that were expected to complete. What more do you want?
The grand festival can begin…!

Well done, Sir Tman!
