This is a map that I made for multiplayer, to be played on gamespy with one other person. It is based on the actual island of Lindesfarne off the northeast coast of England. I make maps of the places that I have been to in Europe, the Middle-east, and Africa for Stronghold Crusader (SC). In the middle of the coastal bay is the Island of Lindesfarne, only accessible at low tide, whereupon a underwater causeway is revealed. On the mainland are two Pig enemy lords and one Rat ally lord. At the start of the game, each player must decide how to use the limited space on the island. Then make sure you check out these interesting features: a trebuchet that hits the mainland from the small island, a lookout for sighting catapult shots on one of the Pigs, and iron mines in the basements of the Keeps! I added a dock area, complete with built in merc stand. The Rat ally is in charge of the iron mines on the mainland. But he is overrun by Pig troops early on. Make sure you request iron from the Rat ally in the early parts of the game. After he is killed, all the extra iron he mines is lost. Then its a battle for the mainland, where the two human players markets are located. Note that the landing area from the underwater causway should be protected. The Lindesfarne island fortifcations still exists, as it has for 1300 years either as a monestary or military outpost. When I was there we had to cut the castle tour short, because the tide was coming in. The actual island is only accessible at the lowest point of the tides. The village of Lindesfarne is on the shore and has been represented in the map as the iron mine Rat lord. The two invading Pig lords are the enemies in this map. Please play on Multiplayer or Custom Scenario, adding TWO pigs to the left hand side (mainland), and ONE rat to the Northeast corner. Make sure to assign the two players and the Rat lord on the same side (teams). Also make the two Pigs allies too.

Pat Dark Knight Well its been a while since I've played on Gamespy, but I understand that players on Gamespy have a big different in opinion on maps then the ppl on this site. I dont want to lean on to one side, but the GSA players like to play straight-foward maps where they don't have to contemplate for moutains and landscape, and they like their ressources very accessible. I guess some good maps that are played have a certain objective or obstcle, liek this map where theres only one passage to the island.

on this site, you get penalized on maps with no landscape and stuff like this (which this map purposely lacks because it was intedned for Gamespy and internet use, where too much stuff on a map makes the game laag and slow down - not good). Im not saying that maps that get penalized or awarded for its landscape is bad, but to give it a '0' for example for the category design or sumthing because there isnt really (as compared to other maps and the norm of this site), is abit off if the uploader stated that it is intended for GSA. maybe an 'N/A' mark for sumthing that is purposesly missing in a map should be put as a three, where its not a 'is perfect = excellent mapmaker' or a 'very basic, not good = starter mapmaker'.

It seems to me that lollard has put in a good story and has based himself on a real region. So it seems to me that he has tried as much to make it a heavengames-accepted map.

Venomrider A fairly good map,I can see people wanting a straightforward map that they don't have to worry about not having all resources near them.It would make a good gamespy map in my opinion.
