Howdy from Rough n' Ready, California
There is a real town in Northern California that is called Rough n' Ready. Thats the name. This map portrays that "wild west" theme.
Story:
You moved out to California to strike it rich. But, now all you got to your name is a little run down shack (manor house), a busted up wall and gate, a barracks thats cavin' in, a old abandoned chapel in the woods, and two friends. See what GOLD will do to a man's soul, as you eek out a livin' and seek your fortune on grandpas old sprawling spread. Kick it out on the back 40 as you accumulate 25,000 (TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND)GOLD goin' hog wild on nature! There's deer out there, and prospecting for minin' rights is the order of the day, pard! Get the Preacher in here, theres gonna be a hangin'! Watch out for the critters in the mountains. Get the gold (25,000) together and you can afford your frieghter ticket back to NEW YORK CITY and therefore winning the game. Download and play this, rate it too.
Will post more maps soon.

Not a single comment on this map so far? This has to be changed.

This concept is original and works well. You start in a small corner with a hostile desert in front of you. Slowly you learn to feel your way forward. The trees next to the keep and starting gold are plenty enough to transform them into ranged weapons. With a small group of soldiers (including the two friends) you can begin to clear the corners from lions. They will come by themselves, chasing the peasants.
How I dealt with the sheer distance belongs to Balance.
Found it cheeky that quarries are available but trading stones is restricted. A simple incoherence? It would have been too easy. Nevertheless, I was astonished how quickly gold came eventually in. Of course I set off food consumption and sold the meat (for higher income than taxes). There was ale abundantly to keep the people happy. The olive trees had widely spread inviting to employ more and more woodcutters and fletchers. The religious aid of a dozen priests yet allowed fine +4 taxes. For making gold it was helpful to raise game speed to 90. This helped me staying busy with trading.

Two enemies await you out there. The "creatures", lions all around, that kill deers, hunters and workers. The endless distance also causes serious concerns. Many players may feel despairing about that. Hunters stay out for very long. Unharvested hops rottens by the time. Well, the game begins with "site your granary" and the land shall be mine. So I placed the granary in the rough centre of the map for the hunters to meet there. Think this way I understood the wild west. For the other raw materials there is a different tricky solution. You can separate the stockpile (sell the current goods, raze the tiles and replace them where you like). Best place will be near the hops farms. Ale and xbow production as well as inns will follow.

Great concept and just courageous to offer such a wide desert playground. Only the less productive goods are available for trading (meat, xbows, ale, iron) and only a minor building to improve popularity (chapel). Unique is the idea to give xbows as starting weapons against the lions.
Map Design: 3
The landscape seems to reproduce Californian geography. Desert, mountains and the low lands near the ocean. There is lots of modelling of the desert. The other areas appear rather poor.
No events bother you.
Story/Instructions: 3
Short sketch, ful of humour, well introducing to the atmosphere.
Additional Comments:
In the end I did not want to return to NYC but decided to stay and settle down near the Pacific shore. Gold was the aim that had driven me but within the people I had lured to work here I now feel at home.
Screenshot of the granary in the middle of nowhere (have a look at the minimap).
