How about 1 vs. 6? That's the way I always play maps like this. 8=) I've found that having an ally generally is more trouble than it's worth so I prefer to take them all on - alone.
The map plays well and be interesting if you choose the harder AIs to play against. You have plenty (almost too much) of resources and will be flooded in gold in no time.
You can quickly build as large an army as the game will allow and the real challenge comes in your attack strategy. Unless you do it carefully - due to the way the enemies are positioned - you will have some difficulties in beating them.

Nicely done! I downloaded this map because it looked natural, like a real river. I was pleased to see it decorated nicely. I especially liked the waterfall. Is very pretty.
The design is really good too. The river crossings give good access to every player's castle. All starting positions are close to resources, so the game goes pretty fast. This makes for a fun game!
One problem though. Too many trees don't allow much farmland. I like to diversify my food supply, and couldn't find adequate space for all the different farms. However, there's plenty of deer for hunting, and I got my granary full of deer meat really fast.
Good job on this! I'd like to see more that are as natural looking as this. I'd definately give this map an A! It has good play value, is pretty, and it plays fast, and has a convincing landscape. More like this one, please!
