Just came onboard here, been playing the game for about 2 years and never tire of it. I,ve tried making a few maps in the past but in the end they always didnt seem to quite what I wanted. Well, I took my time on this one and was very pleased with the map and scenario which is as follows. Simply, there are 2 plateaus divided by a river. The large island contains plenty of resources, and dangers. I,ve played it quite a few times before being satisfied with it. Hope you all enjoy
Playability: 4
The map plays fine with no major problems (like unreachable areas, major computer building errors, ect.) I played Richard Lionheart and Sheriff in a 2 comp vs. 1 player(me). It was a good game, I took the island in the middle of the river early with archers. Once the middle island is taken, reinforce and then build up with more missle fire. Then slowly move up using fire ballistas to burn the enemy farms and iron mines. This is a four because the farms didnt work perfectly for the computer players. They jammed in orchards and they showed up as a stunted orchard with only one tree and couldnt be destroyed!
Balance: 3
I gave this balance a 3 because the computer players sieze the land and iron early, making it unbalanced. Stone quarries are also spread unequally and there is conflict in the middle too. You cannot count on food consistently coming in. You should get a cathedral and church early and get a inn going quickly for ale bonus on popularity.
Creativity: 5
Excellent work on making a real looking landscape with a detailed river island area. Mountains are used to make a rough terrain area in the middle too, and there are some good guerilla tactic battles there.
Map Design: 4
6 player map with low resources that are in disputed parts of the map. More than 4 access points on to the plateau makes it hard to defend.
Story/Instructions: 2
More story and background would be needed for any more than a 2 in this department.
Additional Comments:
Great effort for a new contributor. Welcome to the board and keep the quality work coming. Its a map I would play again for a long game where you need to take and hold a resource area. GOOD!
