The map is supposed to be played 1 human v. 1 human. There are alot of these maps shared on gamespy. Most 1v1 player maps are designed with both sides of the map being identical, to make sure the resources are exactly even during online multiplayer play. Some have the resources in the middle instead, like this one. This map would be fun with low starting gold and a couple of hours of free time to set up the game and play it (without anyone quitting in shame, which happens all the time!). Playing on gamespy also requires a above average processor speed, membership (if you dont want ads which slow it way down), and a good video card. All of which I do not have at this time.
This looks good. I have played alot of maps that have too much iron. This is sold too quickly and kinda makes it unbalanced (unless you like attacking with 600 assassins!). But the resources on this map are far away, and this would make the quantity not much of a factor. Also the resources are in a contested area, which would probably make this map one that would be decided by a quick and fierce early battle with only the starting gold to spend. Unless you set a 20 min (no rush), then it would be a 'who ever can build the most mines the fastest before they are all blocked' map.
1 v. 1 player maps that are cool are rare, and this one is worth a five.
Map Design: 5
Looks like this would play out fine, with alot of woodcutting needed before the farms could be built. I think it would be fun, and I might get on gamespy later when I have time and talk someone into playing this well made map.
Doesnt really need one, because its a multiplayer map where two people will be too busy trying to out build each other to be thinking about a dumb old made up story. Good!
I liked the castle design too. Basic and easily moved around in, not cramped or overdone with extras. Got any more good maps?
