I wanted to make a ship map. I know I havent been designing alot of crusader maps. That will change, I will be revisiting my ROOTS from time to time. This is a quick 5 year exercise, repel all inbound boarders. Use the market to stock up on provisions. So its every man to his rope or gun, and sharp is the action...
Somewhat based on my favorite movie, Master and Commander - The far side of the World.
Ahh, these .5s are tricky. A good effort by Lollard on a ship map. Although there was NO way to make extra money, since there was no freindly stockpile, you could buy a limited number of mercenaries. Making play very difficult towards the end. The ballistas as cannons made a nice change from catapults. The ship itself added to the playability, it looked very well done and planned out. I also loathed the Arabian Bows hiding behind those walls. It seemed as if they were just there for target practice and to bug the heck out of the player.
I scaled this down drastically because the market seemed to tease you as you could never use it for extra much needed cash. The maceman surprised me as my swordsman were literally crushed as they were stationed at the sign post. Then the Arab Bows on the wall got killed as well. But every other invasion was extremely well balanced and thought out.
A ship map inspired by your favorite movie. Okay, I liked how the fixed troops seemed to be seiging you without actually shooting or going after you. The two catapults were nicely placed and shot at you from behind a broken wall. The map had a nice feel and style to it, an "aura" if you will. It was a very believable sight, nothing was out of place, even the tower in the middle of the ocean with troops stationed there, near a friendly port. Nothing seemed abstract. Yet those hidden Bows detract from the score because it seems like a cheap move to keep the player occupied before the final invasion. But very good none the less.

Excellent, everything fit into place and looked very natural, the ship was great looking, and the point where the enemy comes from surprised me since the little maze didn't seem big enough. An easy 5.
Not quite sure how to rate this. There was no story, but the instructions were original and simple to follow. But the lack of story kind of bums me out. As you are one of the best writers here.
Additional Comments: A very nice map Lollard, if the score is too low, still getting the hang of these .5s, I'll rerate and round some things up. By the way, sexy looking ship Lollard!

Those archers on the island hide behind the wall and you have too waste a lot of time before you can kill them.
Too easy I suppose.

Very good. The ship is great.
I think the story isn`t necessary here.
I hope you will make more maps. I`m also a mapmaking beginner if it goes about Stronghold, so I wish you luck!
p.s. play my second map and rate it, please!
