"Why does this happen to me?", Jider asked himself. He had been jailed on the charge of Petty Theft and also under suspicion of Murder. Luckily he escaped that prison and fled to the only place he knew he would be safe, The Primeval Forest. A ancient wooden pallisade fort is hidden in the Primeval Forest and its a perfect hideout. Unfortunately there is already a bandit lord and his cronies in the structure. Kick out the current resident, take over (cede) the place, efficently run it, and make some crossbows. My first cede map! Please rate.



I changed the invasion times so they arent swarming you with small invasions. Enjoy!

Jasper Tudor Just downloaded it, though it might take some time until I'm able to play it, working on a map currently. Good to see a new cede-scenario.

Ok, I've stumbled across a problem in my map, so I took a short break to test this map.

Playability: 4
The map is, as all your other maps, very funny to play, you're kept interested all the way through, but it hasn't got that little extra rquired for a 5.

Balance: 4
Didn't like the balance of it at all. I played it on easy (the level at which beginners and moderadetly skilled players, like me should be able to complete it) but wasn't able to win. Only the cede took me three attempts, and then there was an never ending source of small invasions.

Creativity: 5
Must say that all cede-scenarios are creative, and i loved the saxon hall being used as a part of the wall.

Map Design: 3
This was actually a dissapointment. It's very flat and un-detailed. Didn't really like it, and most of the water looks unnatural.

Story/Instructions: 3
Short, to the point, works. But the story was less interesting.

Additional Comments:
I'm not really sure of what I think of this map...should I love it or hate it? I personally think it's too hard, and I've never really liked the idea of many small invasions, I'm more fond of a few, larger, invasions. If you made it easier and made only a few changes to the landscape this rating would be much higher.

Edit: Raised the balance to a 4 now, since the map has been updated. Never said I didn't like the map.

Thanks for the Review! The landscape is of a lowland old growth forest, with a natural ancient walled hideout. It has contrast and pathways, with detailed good things along the paths, eventually leading up to the castle. You get the whole map to explore, ending with a take over of the hideout itself. You have all seige equipment available to build, plenty of money, and sixteen engineers...so have a party. Additional raters wanted!

Where shall I begin? How about playability. The game starts off with a small band of troops, along with your Lord I see, at the southern end of the map. I built 4 catapults and 4 sheilds. I barely managed to take down the gatehouse before they all collapsed under "sniper" fire. The enemy hunters were very annoying in large numbers. After the castle cedes to you, it's your job to rally the "snipers" and defend the gatehouse. Then there's a sprawl of messages and invasions before quiet sets in, and the previous invasions repeat after 24 months. Did the Rat kill the Pig? That sounds awfully familiar...

Balance: 4
You have to create many Crossbowmen, at the expense of Gold and Crossbows, which are the objectives of winning, to survive. The traps you provided though, and your Hunters killing some of the enemy, it offset this a bit.

Creativity: 4
A bandit overthrows a bandit Lord to hide out from the fuzz. A very nice idea wonderfully executed by the troop types, terrain, and your enemy. Although I'm not sure if The Wolf was who you were running away from, or another bandit Lord. Extremely well done.

Map Design: 4
At first I was thinking; "Man... Lollard can do better than this." But then after reading your comment about the terrain, and moving some Archers around, I understood. It's a forest, with many passageways, subtle ones but passageways none-the-less, moving troops around looks very natural and beautiful. The good things were all over the place and nicely decorated. Some of the little shrines looked out of place, but when I saw a Ghost I forgot about them. Inside the castle was little space, and I only could fit two more Fletchers in, but overall the landscape fit the scenario perfectly.

Story/Instructions: 4
The story is entertaining to say the least. A good size, and a funny character and narator.

Additional Comments: Aye Lollard, a solid map that deserves a 4 or higher! Keep it up!

Thanks for the review. The good things that are spaced around can be used to move the king up without having to directly attack.
