The castle has been in your family for generations. The spot was chosen because of teh defensive capibility and the fertile ground. Out of the way from most major conflicts it has never been conquered. It started out as a wood castle constructed by your great grandfather. Since then stone fortifications have been added and bridges have been built. The castle has its own water supply so it can withstand seiges for many months. The land is supreme for breeding the best horseman and known for its grazing land.Since the country has been at war the wolf has kept his eye on this land for a long time.He needs the land to feed his horses. Can you defend against his army?
-use pitch wisely you are going to need it for the swordsmen.
-Sallying forth from the castle is crucial at points.
-troop placment is key to winning
-This map can be played attacking or defending
This is my fist map submitted to Stronghold comments and constructive critcism are appreciated.
Facinatingly designed map with oil use and accurate missile fire a must. I made a strategic decision in the beginning and moved my all troops up to the front walls. Getting set for large armored charges is essential, but you need to be ready to defend against a breakthrough. The gatehouse with the long bridge/walkway is non-functional, I believe there is a elevation or stair glitch there, and the enemy just gather and leave that gate without attacking it. Everything seems conviently placed, when I needed oil it was there. When I needed some horses, they happened to be right there, ect. If the gate is fixed, then this is five. If the gate is a false gate, and is meant not to work, then we will see.
I liked the balance enough to give this a 4 (excellent). Its a little tough. The castle is a little low on a tough ground defense.
The concept of a wood/stone combination castle, with rugged landscape is worth a 3. Keep the cool ideas coming, and excellent first effort. I'm wondering if this is just a first effort under this name, or a first effort ever? My first maps didnt look this good.
Map Design: 4
Once in the castle the attackers are quick to get in the keep. Even though it looks quite strong, defending against mass armored knights close up is deadly. Dont let the enemy in, at all costs. Use the oil effectively on the outer walls, inside is just delaying the inevitible.
Good short description that builds the seige plot. I gave it a low four because its remarkable that a first time contributor can write something that is more than the usual "kill everybody to win".
Im happy to say there were three offical Lollard "Thumbs Up" in a row tonight. Good job on the work on the new maps everyone. Keep watch for my soon to be released, "Cede of Mad Baron VonHendricks", coming soon.
