Caelund Castle, The last outpost of the Britons

This siege is designed to give a fictional view of what it was like after the Romans left Britannia. It is 640 AD and William of Londinium has sent forth an army to defeat the Picts, Unfortunately, word has reached you that his army has been defeated and you are the only castle left to defend against the remaining invaders, who wish to press on to Londinium...

-This map is really fun and has some cool secret ways to victory! Please Rate!

Indeed fun to play. Although mainly as the attacker, making use of ladders is always fun.

Balance: 4
Pretty tough as the defender at Very Hard, took me a few tries though. A bit too easy as the atatcker perhaps.

Creativity: 4
Nice with the retreating army at the beginning (although it has been done before).

Map Design: 4
You gave my map Aberystwyth Castle a 3, and if I were to judge from the same measurements, this would be a 2. But I'm not as hard a reviewer, so this map gets a 4. I beleive more detailed is needed for the landscape, and the towers are not pointing out of the walls (something I really hate).

Story/Instructions: 4
A nice little story, I just have one question: the siege is supposed to take place back in the 7th century, and yet there is a stonecastle?

Additional Comments:
An overall nice siegemap.

I had 47% loses on very hard without using the pitch. But it was kinda tough.

Creativity: 3
The men retreating are cool. The castle looks nice with the tower in the ocean.

Map Design: 4
I like the ocean around the castle and the steep incline going toward the castle

Story/Instructions: 3.5
Gives an idea of what is happening but is missing somthing. A high three rating

Additional Comments: Overall a good map. I ahd to move my troops around a bit so it was interesting. Keep on designing good seiges

For a short game defending a small castle this gets a four. They had plenty of stone structures during this time in history (Hadrians Wall, for example). Emperor Hadrian ordered a fortifed stone wall built from coast to coast. Along this wall the Romans used stone towers and the steep terrain to their advantage. This fictional place could have been a "super fort" along the wall itself, or another access point near a body of water. It plays fine, with some chaos with the fighting withdrawl at the start. Otherwise a great little battle, I didnt use the oil on hard (scared of the fire it would have caused!).

Troops Lost 64%: 3600
Score: 13,600

I had to individually shoot macemen that were climbing ladders and running around inside the keep! These were tough, and so were the almost endless archers. If you use the gatehouse effectively (mine was down to under 100 health points) you can manage to kill all the archers except for the ones that hide behind the wooden barracks fort.

Creativity: 4
Natural looking coastal castle with wooden outbuildings and strong holdout castle. Nice work on the layering of the landscape. The wooden fort and wood platforms also are creative and should be noted.

Map Design: 4
Since I played this twice and managed to "run and gun" my way to victory on the second try, I gave this a 4. I guess the oil is the key here, but I didnt use it. On very hard and good timing with the oil, this would be very fun.

Story/Instructions: 4
I liked the story, because it takes real places and events and blends them into a believable story with plot. GOOD!

Additional Comments:
Official Lollard "Thumbs Up" for this little siege that uses monks and macemen to really get the blood flowing. Nice all around job.
