The great fortress of Louisberg by Big T. Louisberg was built in 1740 in New France to defend the St Lawrence river from the English. Its walls were designed to deflect cannonballs and give vantage points for troops on the wall. As Marquis de Vaudreuil, you must defend the great fortress from General Wolfe.(yes, his name was actually wolfe) James Wolfe, although dying of tuberculosis, was still a brilliant commander of the English. Most of the crossbowmen are scattered throughout the level, so place them quickly. This is the final version of this, i have updated a few things, like the castle design and making your troops "morale" lower.
Playability: 4
This map starts off right away with some battles at the front wall. Good work on getting the attackers to take the indirect route through the castle and therefore taking fire from every single crossbowman 'in house'. Taking off because the stockpile starts overfull and there is no market to sell.
Balance: 3
This should be a siege. Also the starting good jam up the stockpile. Towers full of crossbowmen dont really give the attackers a chance.
Creativity: 4
Quality work on the towers, the layout of the castle, and the wooden structure at the point (a boat?). Nice wall work and placement of troops.
Map Design: 3
Prementioned stockpile problem and limited availablity of buildings. I ended up placing 10 wooden gatehouses out front so I could just get the starting good on my stockpile. Otherwise this is a great castle with a good long run up to pincushion the attackers before they can swing their swords.
Story/Instructions: 4
Historically accurate and detailed description earns a 4 from me.
Additional Comments:
Thumbs Up for this detailed fort. Remember to clear the stockpile and gold before you save your final version.
